That story is no doubt an internet fabrication, created by 2K fans who are hoping and praying for a decent game this year. There's no precedent for one development team working on the following year's game when the upcoming version has yet to be released. Besides, do people honestly believe 2K would release 2K8 with so many game-killing issues, when they could have had combined resources and gotten the game up to some kind of decent standard?

I would even suggest the opposite scenario: Kush was disbanded after 2K8 was released, and it may have taken several weeks for VC to get up to speed on what Kush had been working on. If anything, my guess is they lost a month or two of development time due to the changeover. And the complete lack of screenshots and videos at this point indicates 2K9 is behind schedule, which seems to confirm what I'm suggesting.

Baa... MLB 2K9 was in preproduction (ideas, brainstorming, prioritizing, etc.) before 2K8 released. So, in some ways, they've had a little longer to work on MLB than the normal sports development cycle.

Visual Concepts knew well before Kush dissolved it was taking over... this was mentioned by both DrJones and the (name escapes me) former 2K employee who helped write the hitting engine for 2K8.

No one really knows how much time VC has spent on this game. Remember VC develops: NBA 2K & now develop both NHL & MLB series.

Unlike many I believe we haven't seen info directly from 2K because they are:

          1. Hard @ work fixing this title

          2. Probably preparing for the PR hit they're gonna take once they begin releasing info on various media outlets, especially any interviews done by them on behalf of this game due to last year debacle..

I agree that marketing is making sure they show us the very best of MLB 2K9...they can't afford to give us any screens that are less than adequate. Therefore, VC is working hard on 2K9, making sure they give us want we want. And any screens or vids of MLB 2K9 will show us the very best of this game.

Not trying to argue, but the logic here doesn't make sense. The game has been in development for months and is probably close to being finished. And if that's the case, they could have prepared decent/great screens weeks ago. All they needed to do was to choose a small handful of screenshots, making sure they were top-notch, and make them available to the various media outlets.

We all know how poor 2K is as far as marketing goes. I would guess that's the only issue here (again and as usual). In other words, nothing to do with waiting until the game's at the stage where they have some good-looking screens to show off. That time has no doubt come and gone weeks ago.

You and I don't agree often, but you're right on the nose with this.

We don't?? Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with that assessment.

Like who? Sony's too wrapped up doing their own thing to give a damn what VC is up to at this time.

Relax, it was a joke, sheesh. There was a ton of talk around here a while back about VC not wanting to give out details regarding their upcoming APF 2K8. The fear was that EA would move to undermine whatever it was 2K were planning, which EA did in fact do with the signing retired pro players.

Your enthusiam is contagious. I'm actually a bit hopeful this game will be okay this year, although most of that is probably just my happiness that zone hitting is back in the series.

I think if homeruns are toned down then I can be happier with this title.

The amount of homeruns I started to see in last year's game are what eventually turned me away.

Also, pitch counts and generating walks. They need to continue to improve on that.

Since there with a new Developer i wish they would change there whole marketing and Branding completely. I mean Change there LOGO, whole design format, its long overdue. They need to dump more money in marketing for this game, be more accesible on the Web like Sony is. Show Pics movies, their logic of Marekting is so *** backwards the only reason why it sold games was there was no other baseball game for 360. Hopefully with VC behind it they can get things back in order. If this game does not show a significant step in the right direction this year i really hope it flops so bad that MLB pulls the damn license and gives it to all Parties right to a baseball game again.

This is the first time since like RBI baseball were i have went 2 years withought buying a baseball game and that is pathetic when games should be better not worse, especially when the blueprints for good baseball games have been written so many years ago.
