What's sad is those screenshots might not have been touched up...lol. They might have been of 2K7...that game did look just that good. I still think it had (has) the best looking player models I've seen in a baseball game...maybe any sports game.

I'm not even sure if a great looking and great playing baseball game is even possible in the same year from 2K anymore. I had such high hopes after 2K7. My thoughts were "Man, now they just have to tighten up gameplay and they've got themselves a d*mn good baseball series." Then they went and F'd it all up with 2K8...lol

        Sigh...if only 2K baseball could get their sh*t together...lol.

I think a lot of the reason that there hasn't been a peep about this game is because of Front Office Manager. I'd expect something about 2k9 after that game drops. Like all, I hope we're pleasently suprised, but I'm not very optimistic right now.

It just doesn't make much sense to be delaying releasing info on your main baseball title because of a fringe simulation game you're releasing a month earlier. 2K just doesn't seem to have things together.

Wouldn't they have to release info for Front Office Manager first?

I remember there was like one video about it, but that's all I ever heard about it.

I guess we'll see in a week, since FOM comes out the 27th or 28th I think.

Honestly, with all the work they have to do to improve 2k9, I dont really want to hear squat from them. Use the time you dont really have to improve the game. I mean, I would even be willing to wait until april if it meant we were gonna get a sweet game.

Re: What Frightens You the Most About MLB2k9?

What frightens me most is 2K. They rode some great games stolen from Sega to the top of the mountain, built a castle and then watched it slide down into the mud. 2K no longer seems to have an interests in any of its developers, franchises or fanbase.

2K pushed MLB 2K8 out the door knowing it was broken. They have released fewer and fewer patches over the years and those patches have encompassed less and less to the point now if it is not a major issue you can be assured it won't be improved until next season.

EA got a bad rep doing the exact same things 2K is doing now. Eventually it hit EAs bottom line so they went in and restructured things. While EA is still not perfect they have come a long long way in just a few years. They are responsive to the community and truly seem to take an interest in improving things as much as they do in making money.

EA had deep pockets and an large market share which helped them through the lean times. 2K will not be able to survive the lean time with is about to strike them like an iceberg in the night. Over the years it has been apparent that those at the helm would rather just keep throwing things overboard than trying to right the ship.

I did not buy EA games for a long time. Not on the DC and not for at least the first 3/4 of the Xbox's life. I am a die hard 2K fan and I would have never thought even three years ago I would be saying that I am done supporting 2K as a publisher. No offense to the guys in the trenches making the games - I know they out class everyone. My pain is with those running the show.

Not quite...I agree with the sentiment, but in reality it doesn't bear out. They are so busy working on the game that they can't afford to release a picture or two? A teaser? They don't have time for this yet they release multiple little Tim Lincecum videos? It just doesn't add up.

Let's get this out of the way: The marketing department doesn't work on the game other than to...you guessed it...market it.

The lack of marketing is a 2K trademark, especially with their baseball titles. That said, I'm not readin too much into it. It's no different than any other year, IMO. The lack of info doesn't concern me becuase most of what they need to do isn't that marketable anyway.

"All new for 2009...We actually give you a baseball game!" Not exactly an advertisers dream, is it?

Eventually they'll release screenshots, videos, info, etc. When they do, they'll likely be ripped for it. Marketing wise, they're in a no-win until they release a solid product...which has nothing to do with how it's marketed.
