Re: What Frightens You the Most About MLB2k9?
Yea thats pretty bad when basically the fanbase is hoping for "not horrible" instead of "excellent".
You would think 2k would jump in and go the extra mile, open it all up to reassure the people that its not a dud. I dont play baseball games so I dont know if that is the case, but it doesnt seem like it from the threads around here.Ericmaynor3.com

Some companies run themselves into the ground because it's more advantageous to eventually pull the plug and declare bankruptcy, than it is to continue trying to make a go of it. I sometimes think the first option is Take Two's real modus operandi.Comment

Re: What Frightens You the Most About MLB2k9?
I downloaded the MLB 2K7 demo last night for s****s and giggles, and man, I can't help but think of what could have been. That was a game with immense potential. Great crowd interaction, decent gameplay, good presentation, better graphical quality, better looking stadiums, et cetera.
I think the jump to 60 FPS, above anything else, killed and buried 2K8, which is a shame since EA pulled it off in most of their sports titles with little to no drop in graphical quality. If they stuck with what worked in 2K7 and made improvements that actually REFINED what they accomplished with that game, this thread would not have existed.Owner of URWL CAW WRESTLING: http://www.rantboard.net/Comment

I have another frightening thought...
That 2K9 will still be much worse on PS3 than it is on 360 (which of course there is no excuse for, as just about every other developer seems to have figured these systems out by now and can make their games perform equally on both).Comment

What worries me even more, with all the various skus making their way to VC now, does VC have enough knowledge of the code base or even enough staff in the first place to take the two products dropped in their laps (NHL & MLB) and actually make something special of either one? While I haven't been all that impressed with 2ksports titles as of late with the exception of NBA2k, I'd still rather have them around as without competition EA will just go back to not trying which would be bad for everyone involved.Comment

Re: What Frightens You the Most About MLB2k9?
Well after reading the preview only the gameplay concerns me now .
This game know offers plenty of OFFLINE REPLAY VALUE with
Control all teams and a playoff mode WOW been fighting to get these back in for years
Oh and lessening kiddie Pitch and hit gimmics is a plus ! I think it only works well in Ea NHL .
Keep it Simple 2k/vc way to go stick to the basic and bring back basic sim BaseballComment

Re: What Frightens You the Most About MLB2k9?
Well after seeing some pics and reading, my concerns are the Commentary and how much was recorded and if about 1 game play im going to here the same crap. Also since the graphics were designed from the ground up, ALOT of crap are going to be wrong in the Stadiums and Players. And animations are going to off since the Models were redsigned but it looks like the code was the same, i dont know. Well i guess we shall see when the videos come in.Comment

Re: What Frightens You the Most About MLB2k9?
My nightmare is coming true, looks like. Zone hitting appears NOT to have been added. Instead, it looks like they simply went back to 2K7's hit-influence controls (down = ground ball; up = fly ball, etc.). On top of that, if we're to believe the Gamespot preview, step-influence has, at the very least, been dumbed-down if not removed entirely.
I am now frightened for this game -- very frightened.Comment
