Another new feature: the ability to influence the path of the ball when you make contact by moving the left analog stick in any direction. Move it up for a fly ball, down for a grounder, left to send the ball toward the third baseman, and so on. Naturally, the timing of your swing and when you make contact with the ball will still come into play here; the left stick will be just for influencing the path of the ball.

Huh??? This was an old feature (2K7) put back in the game. And if this, rather than zone hitting, is what the features list was describing when it talked about "aiming", then that along with the removal of step-influence (?!) seals the deal for me. The Show on my PS2, here I come.

They removed step-influence. How is that "not changed"? Step influence is 50% of WHAT MADE hitting last year, and why it was so difficult to master.

Since he didn't mention anything about Step Influence I'm gonna say it's still in the game until I hear other wise *plug for Chase to check to see if it's still in the game*
Okay, you've given me some hope, Joe. But for me, the game just went from a first-day purchase to a wait-for-confirmation-in-the-Impressions-thread.

Change or options are good but if the dont work properly why bother and 2k / vc now knows this .
Cant wait for solid FUN and SIM games
Stay heathly and you gotta draw more walks this year, Patience !

I think your just bashing 2k8's controlls because you suck at using them.

It might, cause 2k6 had it...It probably won't though, cause I think it would have been on the features list, cause the WBC is something that would help sell the game.

Why does it matter to PS3ers if MLB 2k sucks? You have a great game in The Show. For us 360ers, all we got is 2k (which is why I haven't bought a baseball game since MVP 2005).

I just hope the PS3 version is on par w/ the 360 this year.

I have the same concern as some of the other people that the controls are a bit "dumbed-down," as I loved the pitching mechanic last year. However, I'm taking a GS hands-on with a grain of salt. I don't think a baseball video gamer would make this mistake:

Then, when the ball crosses the mound, you can swing as you normally would.
I'm going to look awfully silly if I swing when the ball crosses the mound.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
                            Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

That's a fair point. I'll take gameplay from OS far more seriously than Gamespot.

Now that Gamespot as blown the lid of its "exclusive" however, I imagine more hands-on reports are just around the corner.

Exactly. I'm hoping for a flood of information, and I'll be looking forward to the O.S. impressions of the game.
