Should I Play Franchise On WSB?

I've never played on franchise mode. For the most part, I play a BB game for the gameplay, not the management. I don't even know what the Franchise Mode is capable of. However, after reading the threads, it sounds interesting. Am I missing out on not playing Franchise? Can you still play the games in Franchise or is it strictly management? Also, with Franchise, are BB fans turned off that you could have a team (i.e. the Reds) that doesn't resemble its real life counterpart at all after trades, etc.? Interested in hearing what other WSB fans think and how its Franchise differs from other games (i.e. HH).

I love franchise mode. I have often wondered why people play just a season mode, or even those historical replay sims. The point of a game to me is to simulate a living, breathing world, not to recreate (in the case of a historical sim) or to control the entire world yourself (as in season mode where some people control all the teams in order ot maintain the rosters)

But I realize it's whatever floats your boat that counts, so power to you! But I much prefer taking a franchise (in my case my beloved Montreal/SanJaun/future Washington Expos) and trying to compete in a virtual, changing world......

you really have to try the franchise. i turn off the computer trades as i like the teams to keep the same guys and that limits the bad trades. other than that i control everything. i really like the hiring of scouts, coaches, etc. i also like the money system and playing as the cubs we are playing pretty good so we get more money. i play about a game a series and play all the games against the division leaders. theres so many other things like players getting tired, trade rejections, trade proposals, and scouts having new players to sign that its hard to remember everything until i play. example- i have an A+ pitching scout and he told me about this ace pitcher that is probably ready for the big leagues. a no brainer to get but he ended up signing with the white sox. he pitching right now so it should be great to play against that guy.

So far I've been able to sign one of the maybe 3-4 prospects that my scout has made me aware of. A young pitchers from the Dominican Republic. I have my Foreign silder set high. Hopefully in 2-3 years he'll be ready to take someone's spot.
