This game looks tight
Just was watching some videos over at gamespot and it looks like they really cleaned up the presentation. The crowd and atmosphere is so much better. The gameplay also looks a lot tighter and players seem to animate more realistically. Still some framerate issues but that I can deal with. This being the only option for me on the 360 and I thought last years was really bad after playing the show, but I'm looking forward to it. I liked 2k7 but I haven't been overly impressed with 2k recently. Their games just have been lacking something recently in polish and just overall fun. Here's to hoping t his game gives me my baseball fix.Last edited by kGinGreen; 02-17-2009, 01:23 PM.Tags: None -

Re: This game looks tight
Yeah I dont want to turn this into a 2k9 vs the show thing, I only have a 360, but i've seen videos of both. The show looks amazing and graphically and presentation wise is a step ahead but I was more just complimenting this game for what it is. It just seems like 2k cleaned up a lot of the problems from last year and this looks like it should be a fun little baseball game. I was watchign a bunch of videos and it you can see hte similarities to last year but they have really expanded on it. There seems to be a lot more animations and things just seem to happen more realistically. Last years 2k8 was a fun little game at its core but it had glaring flaws in the presentation and the gameplay was really buggy. I liked some of the things they did but all in all it was really a bad game. This years looks like it actually will be a solid game. The show might get a 10 and wow a lot more people but I think this will be a solid 8 and do some nice things.
To me both games will have their strengths. I think the show has a bit more as far as graphics and every play seems like a big play sort of thing. It seems more arcade to me with the wya the field seems so huge and the camera angles and the way it follows the ball. It's impressive and very immersive. It looks and feels like you are watching a real game. But 2k9 seems a bit more relaxed and the commentators are just solid and more laid back. It might seem boring to some but I was really impressed with how solid and spot on the commentating seemed to be. The game sounded and looked like baseball to me. I also think the players in 2k9 move a bit more realistically and there are more animations. It's immersive in it's own way. Not to knock the show but I think once the initial wow factor wears off, it wouldn't surprise if this game has more depth. This is just me watching videos but I'm impressed with this game. I think it's going to be good. I hope so at least. I just hope the 2k developers can expand on the depth of gameplay and the game is fun to play and there aren't any gamekilling bugs that always seem to haunt 2k sports games.Last edited by kGinGreen; 02-17-2009, 02:40 PM.Comment

Re: This game looks tight
I have to admit im actually getting a little excited for this, though i might wait a couple of days to see what peoples reaction is with it.
But from the videos only i have to admit the more i see the better the game looks.
Graphically hard to tell cause of video though IGN's were the best looking as far as color goes. Gameplay looks really smooth animations seem to better for the most part i know there wonky at times but i can deal since alot of what i see seems to be post play.
Commentary i actually am i shocked about it, i mean seems like when games get a new 2 in booth it seems like they rush it and it comes off pretty badly, but from the games i have seen on video looks like thy do a decent job. Then again when i play with my team over and over again i wonder how many repetive statements i will receive i think that is a little bit of a worry.
Crowd looks great overall and i think the final version will be the best in the series, seems they get loud get on their feet at the right times, then again early beta so on that we will have to see.
Things, that caution me though arm strenght and AI taking strikes, its been mentioned but i want to see how this is resolved before i purchase it, i really cant blam VC not getting everything right since its their first year but that could be a make it or break, just want to be sure sliders and Edits to roster take care of some of these problems.
Presentation im sure there more overlays and utscenes so looking forward to that. Looks better then anything that came from Kush sooo we shall c.Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal - PicassoComment

Re: This game looks tight
Im in the situation where I'm away from my PS3 and Xbox for a couple of months so with 2k coming out on the PC i'm really happy to get my baseball fix.
I have NBA 2k9 on the PC for using when I'm away from home so MLB will join it.
After loving 2k7 and then giving the horror show 2k8 a miss and buying the show last year i'm happy to say that I will give 2k's version a blast this year but only because its $20 on the PC.Comment

Re: This game looks tight
I agree this game looks and sounds very good. Some of the best presentation I have ever seen in a video and I thought NFL 2K5 was the best before seeing these videos. Can't wait until March 3rd.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: This game looks tight
hmm well i think the only thing missing to make this on par for me like 2k5 is the nice overlays. The starting lineup and the way they show the fielders to the feild introduction really doesnt looked polished to me in now way like the other game.Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal - PicassoComment

So far I like what I've seen from the videos. The demo of course will be the clincher for me if I buy it or not.GT: Herkyalert
