Direct-Feed Developer Walkthrough
I didn't see this video posted (if it has been, I apologize). It's from G4, and it's a walkthrough with the developer.Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Re: Direct-Feed Developer Walkthrough
That play by the catcher is absolutely horrible. Honestly the worst thing I have seen from this game so far. He basically morphs into an animation to grab the ball and while his momentum is taking him towards second base, he some how throws a perfect freaking laser to first from a horrible and unrealistic throwing motion (almost as if he was doing a sidearm toss). Plays like this just ruin bunting for me (even if that was a rather bad bunt), the fact that a play like that can be made ruins the whole aspect of bunting for a hit and eliminates part of guys like Pierre and Furcal's strengths. In previous years it was the pitcher grabbing the ball barehanded and making a Jeter like jump throw that was always perfect to nail even the fastest runners. If that was due to the new quick throw button, they need to adjust that to the quick realistic, players still have to shift momentum and face the target they are throwing at button...ok back to the rest of the video.Last edited by Trevytrev11; 02-19-2009, 05:30 PM. -

I notice that as well. I hope that ironed out for the retail version. That play by the catcher is absolutely horrible. Honestly the worst thing I have seen from this game so far. Nice to see Pierre swipe second and the batter take the pitch.
There is a perfect opportunity for when the camera shifts to the pickoff cameral to have the pitcher turn his head. Sometimes pick plays are called where the pitcher looks for a signal from the catcher, but 99% of the time, he's looking at the runner and the fielder to determine whether to make the throw. Not a big deal, but something that should be changed for future editions.
Also, I'm not really enjoying this hitting camera everyones been using, but to each his own I guess. I prefer it zoomed in a much as possible so I can just see about the front edge of the plate. In the current view, there is no catcher where the catcher should be, so it just feels off. At least when you zoom in, you don't see where the catcher should be, so it doesn't feel like he's missing.Last edited by Trevytrev11; 02-19-2009, 05:38 PM.Comment

Everything looked really good besides the catcher throw mentioned above. I think that will more than likely get ironed out though for the retail version.Comment

LoL, The pitcher is calling for the ball after striking out the third batter & the catcher just rolls it to the mound...

Re: Direct-Feed Developer Walkthrough
I know, but that is the good and the bad with having this realtime thing. I think you just have to get used to it. I will say onething I hate all the pepsi adds on the scoreboard, but other than that. This game looks really good. The ball seems like it doesn't make it to the plate. Kinda reminds me of all Star baseball. It kinda did the same thing.Comment

Re: Direct-Feed Developer Walkthrough
You know...the developer, right after that odd throw from the catcher makes a comment about holding the left trigger and it's "quick animations only." I bet that's what happened there, and if that's it, I'm avoiding that feature.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Bingo thats how i took it too, that was quick throw. That did look bad though i hope it doesn't look that bad for outfielders. Steve said holding down the left trigger did lessen the crow hop. I just hope it doesn't look bad doing itComment

I will be avoiding that feature as well, at least for infielders.
This game looks to be pretty solid from what we've seen so far. I can't wait to get my hands on this game.Comment

MLB 2K5 had similar problems. The 2nd baseman would hold his arm out and the ball would be thrown as if shot from a cannon. It was terrible. Hopefully this is something that is fixed.Comment
