coach or manage only mode?

It may be somewhere embedded in the dozens of threads, but does anyone know if this game has manage only mode? 2k7 only gave the option of cpu vs cpu, and then they even removed that option last year. any help and updates would be appreciated.

They had manage only in the game last year.

I'm guessing the original poster is thinking of a coach mode where you watch the action on the field, as opposed to the manager showdown which turns the game into a text-like simulation.

I'm going to guess-and this is just a guess-that you won't see that considering that MLB Front Office manager is based around the idea of managing only. I hope I'm wrong.

that's exactly what I'm looking for...on the field action, not the text-based thing that we've seen in the past. I have seriously thought about trading in my xbox 360 just so I can play "the other game" again. hopefully they will have it in this game, though I've searched all over the internet and can't seem to find out...

I wouldn't bank on it, not now that MLB Front Office Manager is out.
Madden used to have a 'coach mode' but when they went next gen it disappeared (but we got Head Coach instead).
I hope it's in there, too, but I'll go out on a limb and guess that it isn't.

I, for one, am so glad I didn't waste my money on front office manager. good point about coach mode disappearing from madden too, I was pretty pissed about that. If they just give me the option to let me play CPU vs CPU (you couldn't do that last year, but in 2k7 you could) then I guess that will work, but I'd rather it be a legitimate part of the game. I guess I'll have to roll the dice on this one, since we're so close to release now....

I did. And liked it for a while. It's not too far from being a decent game, but its problems became unbearable (and incredibly frustrating).

I just don't understand why these developers can't take a game like Sports Mogul Baseball or OOTP and link it with these oustanding graphics engines and come up with a fantastic coach-mode/GM-mode style simulation of baseball (or football--HC was okay but still lacking, IMO).

Just throw six figures at one of these text guys to buy their program then animate a couple hundred visual displays of the results and voila.

Steve was playing CPU vs. CPU in some of the videos, so yes it is available.

You could just set it to CPU vs. CPU, then take control of the team when you want to call a pinch hitter, warm up a pitcher, etc. then switch it back to CPU vs. CPU.

The text based manager mode from last year is probably still in too, but I haven't heard if they've improved it or not.

that's great to see that CPU vs CPU is possible, unlike 2k8. why would the dev's remove that feature anyway. personally, that's the way I believe all video games should be tested, before release...now I'm really stoked about this game, if what you are saying is really true.

Yes, it's true. Steve OS (the guy who owns this site) has the game and made a few different videos showing the CPU vs. CPU in action.

we can only hope and pray...I'm gonna pre-order my game tomorrow, since I have bunches of games to trade, including 2k7, though I may be lucky to get five bucks for it now. thanks for the info guys!
