Irritating non-feature in both 2K & The Show

    Accurate Player portraits.

I am sure this has been brought up before, but it still boggles my mind that the tech isn't readily available so that each player will wear their appropriate team hat. For those that did not play MLB2K8, I felt as though it was at least a step forward in the right direction in that each player had their team logo's cut off in their portrait. Needless to say I was fairly disappointed when I realized that this would not be used, or even expanded on in either game's release.

It may seem inconsequential to some, however to those who enjoy being immersed in the depth of say franchise mode - it can really take away from the overall experience. Even for the casual fan, I am sure it's not the most appealing thing to see their team's favorite (or new) player come to bat supported by a portrait of him wearing another team's uniform.

Would it be possible so that each MLB player's picture is cut off at a certain point on their head, and the ballcaps themselves digitally produced depending on which team they're currently playing for?

The reason why the portraits are never accurate is because no mlb takes head shots till the beginning of spring training. Which is obviously way to late to incorporate those head shots.

I have access to the pressbox. The portraits aren't even out yet.

I understand that. Regardless I think it's concerning that there is not technology (incorporated in-game) that's readily available to produce accurate portraits. Regardless of what team they're playing for, or how/when they were acquired.

I would even be in favor of full 3D portraits instead of old, real-life pictures.

NBA 2K9 made some amazing portraits using just the player model (Marc Gasol for one) and in NBA Live 2003 (I think) they used player models for portraits. I would be more than cool with a static player model as the portrait, but until then you better hope the PC version is moddable.

But what about ESPN? When players get traded they show the headshot of them with their new hat on.......

They should use computer generated images for the players, that way they can be accurate throughout the game.

As has been mentioned above, the Marc Gasol image in NBA 2K9 looked brilliant. I think Roger Mason was another one.
