I Guess the Real Question is....

I am not sure that with all the comments, critiques, arguments, debates, warnings for inappropriate language, etc... anyone has come right out and asked Steve:

    Is the game fun?

Do you get done with a 9 inning game (assuming you have played a full one) and say, "Man, that was a really fun game"?

With all the discussions about reality, lighting, sock height, SIM stuff, I guess what I want to know is with some slider tweaks and the game itself, have you enjoyed playing it enough to label it as "fun"?

Because in the end, that is what will give the game its replay value.

anybody who claims to be a fan of baseball, and looks at these videos of 2k9 and says it doesn't look fun, either has an agenda, is lying through their teeth, or both.

    have a nice day.

Re: I Guess the Real Question is....

I think the "fun factor" is a good question to ask and ultimately the most important one in all sports games. But baseball is SO consumed with statistics that I think it's hard for anyone to not track stats and results and see how they compare to reality. If a baseball game isn't able to produce somewhat realistic stats over time, I think that would really hurt the replay value of a season/franchise.

I'm guilty of this and I find myself consumed with realistic stats in games at times. Sometimes it's hard to shut the brain off and just enjoy things like you did when you were a kid.

^^^^that's why high heat baseball was so popular...looked like cavemen did their graphics, but that gameplay and those stats were scary accurate.

I think the OP raises a good point. I didn't stop playing 2K8 due to the framerate or any other bug/glitch, or due to any other single issue. The problem was that the total package just wasn't an enjoyable experience (in large part due to the issues, but not exclusively) over the long haul.

I felt the same way about 2K8. I gave it an honest chance over a few months of playing, but it didn't deliver the fun like 2K7 did (and still does) for me.

Well, now that there are final copies out there:

Steve: Was the copy you just got today the same version that you played last week and posted videos of?

Chase: Play a 9 inning game and let us know what you think. Fun or not so much?

                      thanks,
