Re: PS3 Demo
yes and i have to agree but without turning this into a 360 vs ps3 thing they port this over to the ps3 from the 360 so they don't fully utilize the ps3, graphics card and hardware are better(only because it's newer then most of 360's out) and that is where sony who makes the show has jumped leaps and bounds over with less restrictions and more capabilities, they have optimized what it can do, which is why i am somewhat worried that the show is now maxed out(i hope not because it is fun to play)PSN:LeftCoastGamer

Re: PS3 Demo
Again, that is a very good point, but what about the "easy to program for" 360?
I think the engine has been so Frankenstein over the years (a dev admitted it) that it just cant be optimized good enough with the bells and whistles.
It really bogs down in the replays from the 60FPS, and that is a concern.
It will be interesting to see what VC can do with this, and hope to do with the engine they were handed. Because as of now it doesn't seem that 2K is interested in re-inventing this series on the graphical side of things.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

I am not just talking about the PS3 demo, the same applies on the 360. And even 2K7 ran at 30FPS with choppiness on the 360 (the version I had).
They need to invest in a newly optimized engined for these consoles, but I dont think we will see that from 2K till the next Xbox/PS4.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PS3 Demo
No doubt, MLB 2K needs a new graphics and physics engine. I couldn't even logically challenge you on that. Maybe Visual Concepts will create one soon, so they can have plenty of time to build on it this year for the release of MLB 2K10. Anyway, we're all kinda strayin' off topic here. I'm gonna shut my mouth now.Again, that is a very good point, but what about the "easy to program for" 360?

Re: PS3 Demo
and i agree i think this gen(next gen) is maxed out with what they can do and what they are going to be able to do, kinda sad when you think about it, both consoles tried to praise how they would take gaming to the next level never seen before, could be true but if you ask most sports gamers well are all not impressedI am not just talking about the PS3 demo, the same applies on the 360. Re: PS3 Demo
and we did get off topic, but there was no bashing of anything and only adult conversation on topics that do relate to the game, so no harm no foul, but anyway this game should be good, i am really, really, really hoping for 2k online gaming this year, i will be happy with 2 good baseball games this seasonNo doubt, MLB 2K needs a new graphics and physics engine. Re: PS3 Demo
Dam i felt the same way i thought it was just me, but i felt it played alittle better and even looked better. I am playing it on 1080p it looks and plays greatomg for the first time in my life i feel like the ps3 version is better then 360
i am loving the graphics on the ps3 on 720p
to much jaggies in 1080p
but 720p rocks and it looks cleaner and more vibrant then 360
and the analog for hitting and pitching seems smoother on the ps3
very impressed with the ps3 demoComment

Re: PS3 Demo
Damn Pjv, you're kinda like that security guard at the entrance gate questioning people. Then once satisfied & have met your approval, they can pass on through. lol
It's quite apparent youre really pulling for this game over The Show.
I'll make it easy for you though. The game is 1000% better than 2K8 & close to 2K7 graphically(on PS3). I had a feeling that VC would pull it off & keep both versions (360 & PS3) on an even level. In fact, maybe for the fisrt time the PS3 might actually turn out slightly better in some areas. Kush just could not handle things when it came to porting.
My only real complaint(which I knew would be a problem) other than player faces & motion jerking, is the CPU's impatience at the plate. Not as bad as some were indicating, but damn they just won't let many strikes go by sometimes. I do think some of the inside edge tendencies might really work well this yr though. So I'm eager to fiddle with the sliders pertaining to that.
All I'm touching on for now since its only a demo. It's impressed me enough to keep my release day order with Amazon & pray for a solution to this batter swinging away issue. But when all is said & done, if it's a dead end situation, I'll likely sell it off on Ebay after awhile. Maybe 2K could get this fixed with a patch update I would hope. The franchise disaster(or whatever it was) wasn't my concern since I only play one season usually.
If only VC hadn't removed all the batter take pitch sliders!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say I am pulling for it over the show. I am just pulling for it. I need something different. I have been playing Sony's baseball almost exclusively since 1997.Damn Pjv, you're kinda like that security guard at the entrance gate questioning people. Re: PS3 Demo
has anyone that played both demos noticed that the audio is so much better in the ps3 version? I just hit a game winning 3 run home run with Ryan Howard off of percival in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and Thorne was ecstatic and had so much emotion...it was as if I was watching a game on television...i've done this in the 360 version and never heard a call like that. He did his trademark "and goodbye Homerun!" call...truly amazing...this has gotta be a different/more updated demo than the 360 version! Lovin this game!

Re: PS3 Demo
I played the demo about 5 times, desperately wanting to like it...but it's just bad in every way except for the commentary.
The graphics look last gen, cartoony, and the stadiums look weak. The hitting sound is ridiculous, like a high powered rifle went off. The animations are jerky in their transitions, and look very funny sometimes. Ugh, I can keep going..
I just don't see how anybody on the PS3 can go with this game when there's a better alternative (I won't say any names). It's like picking a Civic over a Ferrari.Comment

Re: PS3 Demo
i'm a ps3 owner 1st time playing the show ever and i havnt played 2k baseball since 2k7 ......... played both the Show demo and the 2k9.... the feilding and the pitching i prefer in the show not a fan of the pich stick its a bit tricky and i feel like i cant locate the pitches the way i want to .....the fielding i feel like in the show i feel like i'm out of control in 2k the one aspect it has that i wish the show has is a throw meter while feilding..... in 2k9 but i love the hitting in 2k the swing stick is fun both comentaries seem fine to me bat sound is annoying in 2k other than that the y both play great......i'll give the slight graphics edge to 2kComment

Re: PS3 Demo
Me neither. I gave the 2K9 demo a fair shake. I've heard good things from posters here about improvements, but I really don't know what these people are talking about. Is it an improvement over 2K8? I guess, but that game was so broken, it's not much to brag about.
I do like the commentary. I preferred Joe Morgan and that big bald white guy, but the new team sets a nice tone.
But everything else ... man. The PS2-era graphics engine is just made worse by the extreme close-ups on batter's faces. Extremely jaggy ... can you have negative anti-aliasing? 2K might have found a way. Bat contact, hit variety and pitching feels very "video-gamey" and fake. I mean, this is really a tough game on the eyes.
I can see why some people prefer analog hitting/pitching, but for me, it's still too much hassle for time-based actions you have to do so frequently. It takes away from the batter/pitcher showdown and immersion for the sake of a Street Fighter II gaming conceit. Even with the fielding meters and the strike zone overlays ... just all these design conceits that have nothing to do with baseball and take you out of the ballpark.
I feel for those 360 owners who don't have a choice, but PS3 owners ... man, if you really prefer this to the alternative ... I dunno. Cheers?
Sorry, 2K9 fans. I tried.Comment
