    Walks?

I haven't played the Demo yet, but was wondering if you guys are seeing a real amounts of walks (both for the CPU and yourself) while playing?

This is a part of baseball that I feel has never been really implemented well in a baseball game, how does the demo do?

    Re: Walks?

I haven't had a single one in 10+ games (that wasn't intentional). The user pitching is too precise to walk someone unless you do it on purpose. The CPU doesn't throw many balls either. I have had one 3-0 count but it quickly became 3-2 and I hit a HR on the next pitch.

Sliders may help this, who knows.

Sliders or maybe just an increase in difficulty. At a lower level, I would imagine that pitcher would throw more strikes in hopes of making it easier for the user to get good pitches to hit.

        Re: Walks?

Was this a community problem in 2K8? I know it was in 2K7, but can't remember if it was one of the mentioned game killers of 2K8.

I only bring this up because after a several month hiatus from 2K8, I have been playing it recently and have drawn a ton of walks (non of which were 4 pitch walks, but many 5 and 6 pitch walks). The other night against AJ Burnette, I walked 5 times in three innings before he was pulled and then drew another 3 walks off the relievers. This was by far the high total, but in the other games (probably close to 10 total games) I've been averaging about 3 walks per game and have had atleast one in every game.

I don't know who's sliders I have saved in there, but it's been a nice suprise as I thought this had been an issue.

Best I ever got was a 2-0 count. Then the computer pipes fastballs.

I did manage to walk someone - 2nd/3rd, Howard at the plate, I walked him on a full count. I was trying to nibble.

I've let the computer throw pitches to me without swinging as an experiment during 3 innings. Computer never threw more than 1 ball in a row during that test (though I've seen 2 in a row before.)

That kind of experiment might not necessarily work, because if you don't swing at all, computer might be adapting to it and keeps throwing strikes, which would be lifelike.

                    Re: Walks?

I as a rule usually don't start swinging untill I have a strike in the count. Over the course of a few innings it gets the pitch count up and more balls thrown upping the walk total a little bit. I usually get 1-2 a game.
                    Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

                      Re: Walks?

If you are patient, yep, I had 4 straight balls thrown just my last game. Keep in mind there are sliders for this, and 3 higher difficulties.
