Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
I wouldn't suggest editing years, unless the players years on contract are wrong, but I would just set the salary high and then go back through in franchise and lower it.But how does that solve the problem without creating a new one? If you change every player in the game to a 20 year contract, then the rosters are the same every year except for the rookies which will just become free agents anyway after they progress and become good. we have to look at the big picture here. The contracts may not even be the root of the problem.Comment

Well you're right, but for those that don't want to see big star players on the free agent list every off season, at least you could avoid that by giving them a couple of additional years, besides most teams will try to keep them anyway. Or you could trade them to the team that they are suppose to be on and adjust the salary to keep it like real life.
It requires a bit more work, by controlling all 30 teams, but it helpsGames I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.Comment

I'll do this with Lincecum now to see what happens.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
In real life, he currently has a 1yr 405k contract. Divide 317 by 2 and you get a yearly salary for Lincecum of 158k/yr in the game. Much smaller than his real life contract. I wouldn't consider that a pro contract. I mean Dave Roberts makes 6 mil a year.Yea it could be. Looking att Lincecum's contract it's 2 years 317k -- which I'm assuming is wrong when compared to his real-life contract correct? Did he get a pro contract right out of college?
But, the years would line up with the reason why he's a FA during the 2nd off-season.Last edited by crumpled_heap; 02-26-2009, 01:01 AM.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
hey Chase,
what is the verdict on CPU AI batting? I saw 2 others asking this question but so far no info from you so might as well ask again. Did going up in difficulty make any diffrence in the fact that they didn't go after every strike? any slider tweaks to alleviate the cpu hacking strategy problems ?
Thanks a lot manComment

Youly have to do it with a few players on his team to achieve the desired results. Meaning, change some of the other player contracts on his team in order to get the number high enough.Comment

I'm going to get to this in the coming days. I want to get enough innings under my belt before I start judging if it's out of whack or not. Then from there I'll start tweaking levels and sliders.hey Chase,

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
So it seems they fixed one issue only to create more... I really wanted to like this game but as being a sim guy it looks like these issues will push me away from the game... Me sad..."In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." - Vin Scully

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Well, when the franchise started I went in and readjusted Lincecum's contract to normal, and the available funds stayed high like he was still getting paid the 12 million I put his number too.
After year 1 Giants available funds went back down to 4 million from the 30 million they had the year before -- didn't look like they signed anyone major either.
However, in the off-season they somehow gave Lincecum a 7 year deal where he was being paid about 18 million a year -- no clue how it worked.
Otherwise, it looked about the same with high amount of free agents.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Wow.
I'm thankful I play largely just a single season, but this is a deal-breaker for franchise fans. How does something like that make its way through testing.
My only reasoning is that the team simply ran out of time to fix it, given that the franchise is rebuilt.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Could this be fixed with a roster update, or would it have to be a patch?
I seem to recall 2K8 having a weird salary problem where every player made 10% of his real salary, like they messed up a decimal place or something, but it was fixed early on with a roster update. At least that's what I remember.Comment

Not really for franchise fans that like to have full control, it's not a major setback at all, just control all 30 teams.Games I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.Comment

What about the rest of us?
Hopefully someone gets into the PC version quickly and fixes this mess. Franchise(vs. CPU) is where it's at for a lot of people.
