How do you VIEW Player Ratings and Attributes??

In MLB 2K8, you could push down on the left or right thumbstick in the Lineup cards Pop up Window on a player to view a player's profile and see all their ratings (Fielding, Range, Batting, Pitching, etc).

In the MLB2K9 demo, when I bring up the lineup card, I cant for the life of me figure out how to see a player's RATINGS so I can make the appropriate substitution decisions.

    How is this accomplished?

Push left or right on the controller's d-pad.

It's stupid you can't see what the pitcher's pitch count is. The Triple Play series had this so why can't 2k?

Wait. Can't you just view the pitch count from the expanded pitch selection menu? I'm 99% sure you can. It's on the top, right next to the composure meter.

No it's not. See for yourself.

No, he's talking about when you are pitching, it shows your pitch count at top of the expanded pitch selection overlay when you press LB. It shows the number of balls and strikes you've thrown as well.

I'm not sure if you can view the opposing pitcher's pitch count though. Probably can in the full version since you could in 2K9, 2K7, etc.

guys, im not talking about pitch count at all....Im talking about being able to view player ratings and attributes in the game so you can make assessments and adjustments as a coach. For example, Lets say I want to put in a pinch runner, let me bring up the in game lineup card and click on a player's profile to see his speed rating. Or if I want to make a defensive adjustment, who should I put out in Lef Field...What's the LF's range, speed, glove...etc

Stuff like that. Last year, when you brought up the lineup card on screen, you could click any player to view their attributes and ratings. I cant figure out how to view this info for MLB 2K9

Good question. I have had the same problem finding that information in the demo. I can find out more about an opposing batter's info then I can about my own players. I am going to hope this is just a demo issue.

the scary thing is...It may not actually be in the game!? Because I have tried to click every buttone, push every stick from the lineup card to no avail in the demo. And considering that last year's game actually had it but this year's demo does not, almost leads me to believe that it's not in the game at all??

Im hoping I am extremely wrong because this would be a huge ommission from a strategic perspective if you had no access to any of the players ratings during the game

I was noticing this too. In fact I posted a question on the 2K boards but no response yet from the mods.

We really need to be able to open the player card for any player on either team (like last year) Especially when you are batting, pinch hitting, running, etc.

I sure hope this was not overlooked in design.

Oh boy...this could be bad news

I dont think people are realizing how bad this can actually be if its not in the game.

It will impact every coaching decision you need to make in regards to substitutions throughout the game. Plus it can impact strategies you would use against your opponent as well since you have no way to look at their ratings either.

This could be very ugly and admist all the other discussions, I dont think people are thinking about this one!

Wow, I think you're blowing things out of proportion. Especially in franchise mode, you'll probably know your players well enough that you won't need to know the ratings. It's not a game killer, so chill

Good news: RedLine asked one of the 2K mods who has the game about this and here's the Q and A:

Question: When you are batting is there a way to open up the player card and check their ratings for batting, stealing, etc? I know you can check the batter ratings while pitching.

In the demo I used the D-Pad while batting and I could see the lineup, bench, etc. but all I could do was pinch hit, warm up, etc. I was not able to highlight a player and open his card (you know like last year with lineup sheet).

Answer: The amount of knowledge you get with the d-pad is unreal. i haven't tried to right-click on anyone's name during a game, becaue the information you need is on the d-pad. D-pad left and right both gives you information including their ratings.

I will NEVER understand why companies take OUT good features that were in previous year's games. It makes no sense. Why do they do it?

That's not the point. The point is, why have it in last year's game, and not this year's game? It might be a game killer for some people. Yeah, you'll get to know your players, but how hard is it to leave a feature IN that was in previous games? The idea is to move forward, not backward.

Don't dictate what people can complain about or have issues with. It's not cool. The game doesn't play the same for everyone, and certain features are more important to other people.
