What bugs you the most about the 2K series?

I've been playing it since 2K6 ( rip MVP ) and here are some things that bug me.

-The sound of the bat after you hit a ball
-Hat logos are way too big
    -jerseys are not right, example:

the 50 on his jersey is way too low.
-The player faces. The NBA 2k9 series is spot on with them but why can't the baseball series get on track?

not trying to bash the series or anything, but these are some things that bug me

The thing that bugged me the most was the organ. I remember back in 2k5 where my brother and I would be keeping count of how quickly the organ would start up again. It was hilarious.

That, and gameplay issues. Fielding seemed so bad for so long. I'm not as concerned with the graphical stuff, just me. At this point I'm happy to just have HD graphics for a change.

This thread's going to turn ugly, fast.

But what irks me about the series is the fact that the improvements the series makes seem to turn out to be vices (60 FPS in 2K8, new development team/removed features in 2K9).

Not just with mlb but 2k has trends with their games. I think they are usually top of the heap with their in game presentation and signature stuff. What bugs me is their scripted AI, robotic phyics and lack of organic feel to their gameplay. 2k used to be ahead of the curve in all of the above, but they've gotten behind the curve and are delaing with older technology at this point. The faces dont bother me so much. I think the players look like themselves enough..... I personally think nba 2k9 is just as bad and highly overrated. BOth games the gameplay is extremely clunky. They never work right out of the box and need serious slider work to get them playing even remotely realistic and they still don't.

That after mlb2k6, 2k7 and 2k8 they don't seem to be improving. If anything they are now losing features.

They improve a few things every year, but they always take quite a few steps back.

If they would've kept improving everything after 2K7, then this would be an amazing game this year. Yes, some things improved in 2K8 and 2K9, but they always seem to mess it up somehow

Personally, I can live with those cosmetic faults, but it's the core gameplay and features that they mess up or leave out that really bother me

I'm not that familiar with the 2k baseball series. I've only bought 2k6. Going from MVP 05 to MLB 2k6 was like going from a supermodel to Rosanne. I rented 2k7 I think. The last two years I've just played the demos.

The biggest bad thing is they seem to have just an unfinished feel. Whether it's bugs or not being stable.

The fact MVP 05 is still better than it

Re: What bugs you the most about the 2K series?

What bother's me the most...hmmm, well the general rule of thumb is how MLB 2K5 was not a bad game. It was well reviewed, generally well received, and that year that the game came out, everybody considered MVP to be better, but only a little better than 2K5 and MLB '05 The Show... there was worthy competition on all of the titles.

Then, somehow, MLB 2K6 comes out... and not only was it trash on the 360, it was trash on every console. Somehow the game took major steps back everywhere. What frustrates me is that every year we're told, or it's implied, or something, that this is a "rebuilding year for next season, or for 2011, or 2012." Well, what's going to happen is the MLB 2K10 will come out and it may be a solid base for the future of the series, but then we're going to have our next batch of consoles debuting in 2011 or 2012, and what do you know, they're back to square one making a crappy product. What's so frustrating is that we've lost an entire generation of baseball games and by the time the next consoles come out, we will have made very little veritable progress from the 128-bit era to "The next generation," we'll just be starting over as if it's 2006.

Every year, I give the 2K games a new chance and I usually pick up the game when it comes out and sell it 3 - 4 weeks later, and I've always been a big fan of baseball games, but I just can't stand them. There are always some fundamental flaws that prevent me from actually enjoying the game, in any capacity. The Home runs were a major problem in 2K7 and 2K8 and how there were very few singles/doubles/triples... so I figured, well, whatever, I'll play the franchise mode and manage my games and just play as a GM... But then, the same glaring error from 2K7 went unfixed in 2K8 -- not being able to make pitching changes while you're batting at the plate (meaning, no warming up, no subs, etc). This made the manager mode impossible to manage and ruined the game. Of course, in 2K8, you could kinda get around this by turning off the ability to warm up pitchers... but what's the point... why not just let you warmup/sub pitchers while batting? It made no sense.

I hate to harp on this because I've done it too much for four years, but MVP 2005 was a great game and not just on the field, but especially off the field. The franchise mode was deep, effective, balanced, and a lot of fun... it had a couple glitches here and there, but nothing that ruined it. I went about 8 years deep into it and even though I was playing with mostly fake players, it was a blast to make the moves and develop a team... and I rarely even played a game on the field after a few months with the game. Yet, here we are, in 2009, and it would seem like for the fourth consecutive year MLB 2K9 is in a "rebuilding" year and we should already "wait for next year's game" before this one even comes out. Not just the on-field play, but likely, everything else will have some subtle, fatal flaw in it that makes the game unenjoyable for most people.

Hands down, though, what bugs me the most about the 2K series: I am legitimately considering spending $400 on a Playstation 3 and MLB '09 The Show, rather than only $60 for MLB 2K9. That's a damn shame that a series can be so frustrating that you'll spend $340 more just to play it's chief competition.

what bugs me most is i never seem to get a game that justifies paying $65 for it. but that is not just 2k i guess has to do with about 85% of video games out anymore
