    Don't be let down ......

I am reading a lot of people are getting their hopes down after reading some postings regarding this game. All I can say is that after playing the demo a lot I really like this game. I am having a blast with it. I love : the hitting , the pitching , the variety of hits , the colors , the lighting , the player models , the commentary , the real time atmosphere , the ballpark , the camera angles , the fans reacting , etc. I am having lots of fun with it. Peole are saying the show is more realistic etc. If I want realism then I will tune in to a real baseball game for my fix. But if I want to play a fun and enjoyful game of baseball I will play 2k9.
I am a ps3 owner , I had the show last year, and played the demo this year and I can honestly say I like 2k9 much much better. To me I like the graphics better in 2k9 and what I mean by that is I feel the shadows are overdone ( too dark ) in the show. And the player models and grass and dirt textures are better in 2k9.

Also the ability to change the pitching views in 2k9 as well keeps it fresh. The look of the pitcher / batter looks much better to me in 2k9. I just can't imagine playing the show for another season this year. It just feels boring to me. Same recycled commentary and same controls ( buttons ). And the hit variety looks the same again this year in the show.

So to sum it up , take 2k9 for what it is. It plays an enjoyable game of baseball and looks very good too. And I can't wait to get my hands and the full version.

While I respect your opinion I would definitley have to disagree and this is why. (1) While the Show controls may come off as simplistic they are quite intricate if you really take the time learn them inside out. (2) Atmosphere - I hit a home run with the Phillies on the 2k9 demo bottom of the 3rd to win the game, the board flashed HOME RUN, Utley does a light jog and thats it. I hit a Home Run on the 09 The Show demo, the Bell swinging animation starts up and my teammates are at the plate to congratulate me. And this just one of many examples of better atmosphere in the Show. (3) Graphically 2k8 & 2k7 are better than 2k9, and while the reduction in player model texture may have improved framerate, this method of framerate reduction is a cheap out and really reduces the quality of the game. As far as the shadows being too dark in the Show, like I stated earlier I will respect your opinion because this is totally a preference thing, I for one think the shading and shadowing is fine.
Now, I will say that the controls of 2k9 are nice, they definitely tightened up the "Total Control" sytem, but the overall production value is lacking. I feel this is due in part to VC just taking over this year from Kush, and basically wanting to put their signature on it, hence I feel more reinventing of the wheel occured rather than tweaking. I look forward to a good product from VC in the near future, as they are the creators of arguably the best football game ever "ESPN NFL 2k5", but this year for me it will be MLB 09 the Show, updated rosters for MLB 2k8, and a healthy dose of MVP baseball with KGBaseball rosters.
