The computer's free swinging mentality is ridiculous. I am painting the corners on the first pitches of at-bats, and the AI is flailing at everything I throw. The graphics are nothing special, and the game itself feels generic. It does not feel authentic. I won't shell out $400+ for a PS3 and The Show, though I wish I could. I just can't believe that, to me, it feels this game has taken a step backward from last year. I will say that out of the box, I had a lot more fun with last year's game.
Taking out customizable features from last year's game was a huge mistake. What a horrible, horrible business decision. How can you try and sell to consumers that you're "revamped" your baseball game, yet you leave out key features that were in past versions of the game? There is simply no explanation for this, and hopefully someone doesn't try and defend 2K here -- there is NO excuse! You can't even edit batting stances, pitching deliveries, etc... That is just horrible. If 2K doesn't release a patch to fix that, they will never get another cent of my money again.
I don't like to complain, but I am tired of it. It's always, "Wait 'til next year." No, the time is now and 2K dropped the ball. The excuse can't be used anymore that next-gen games will take time to develop... It's been what, 5+ years?
Sorry guys... I guess I'm just venting. I had high expectations. I hoped that even though the customization was gone (with the hope that a patch would fix that), I'd still enjoy the game's gameplay and graphics, and I simply do not.
I am ready for EA to get back into making MLB games. My god, imagine if they could have built on the MVP series, and what it would look like on the 360.
What could have been.
