What Season Length Do You Typically Play?

For whatever reason, I just hate deviating from the 162 game schedule.

What I would usually do is play every game formaybe the 1st 2 months of the season, and then sim every 3rd game.

That way, I can play 2 games of a series, still get mutliple seasons in of franchise, and also keep the "integrity" of the 162 game schedule.

Geeky maybe, but hey, I like it

I always play a full 162 game season. Sometimes, if I have a big lead in September I will simulate some games.

I usually play the 40 game seasons. I hate simming games and it's short enough that it feels like every game matters. Plus, it gives me time to actually get a few seasons in.

How do the awards, sim stats play out over shorter seasons? If you play, say a 81 game season (which Im leaning towards doing), do you get guys leading the league with absurd averages and what not?

Averages can come out a little high, although with 40(or 81) games it's not like you have guys hitting .600 or anything. Homers and RBIs can be a little high if someone gets on a prolonged hot streak, but they could be that way in a full season too it's just that there's not any more time for it to even out.

Honestly though, I'm not one to worry about getting really realistic stats in a video game, which is probably why I'm fine playing short seasons.

What I've always done with baseball games is I play one game of each given series and then sim the rest. This way you can play every series on the schedule, without having to play the team three or four times in a row (ex: Cubs vs. Astros May 15-17. I might play the game on the 16th, and sim the 15th and 17th). So you manually play about 1/3 of the schedule, or about 40-50 games. Much more efficient in getting through the entire 162 game schedule, and it still gives you the feel of going through the entire season.

I play it almost like that, except I sim the last game of every series.

I play a full season, but sim whenever...

I want to control 4 teams, and I think what I'll do is go in a rotation. Play one game w/ one team, and the next game w/ a different user controlled team so that I create this cycle and the season(s) moves by faster.

I'll play the good teams, sim the crappy ones. If I have my beefed up Pirates team, and i have a 3 game series against a Reds team that's 15 games under .500 and facing their 3-5 starters, I"m not playing it. But it's just a crapshoot what games I'll play and won't. I've simmed a whole month before, and I've played 20 games in a row before. Like if a player is on a hitting streak, I don't want it to end on a simmed game.

It's something I worked out during the MVP days, when they added that "momentum" meter to the simmed games. If you picked just certain games like the first of a series and won it, you would usually sweep or go 1-1 at the worst. Ended up inflating your record and stats.

I can't get myself to go less than 162, though I've only finished a season like one time ever LOL. I want my teams stats to be perfect, or at least all earned by me. Once I start simming I lose interest.

I guess thats why the on field stuff matters way more to me than franchise or whatever.
