    Doesn't match 2k8's Gameplay

So after playing the game a fair amount, I have to say the gameplay has been downgraded. 2k8 played a great game of baseball after the sliders were tweaked, the batter/pitcher interface was realistic and only the Presentation/Framerate/bugs were the major issues. On the other hand, the sliders for this game are limited and do not allow us to fix some of the faults in the gameplay such as AI agression and Fielding. This is at least my opinion and it all starts with the sliders.

    2k8 sliders >>>>>>>> 2k9 sliders

Prepare to get flamed. People hate 2k8 for some reason.

I really thought 2k8 was fun though. Once they helped the framerate with the patch and with the great sliders I got off here, I would go so far as to say it was a really good game.

I wish I knew why people hated it so much.

Well I'm not jumping to conclusions and saying 2k8 is the better game overall but I do stand strong on my opinion that the gameplay has gotten worst. My ultimate wish would be for the devs to back all the sliders that were in last years game and the community could "fix" the game through tweaking but as of right now, this game does not play a more REALISTIC BASEBALL SIM than 2k8

Also I think a lot of people gave up before they figured out the pitching and hitting.

Once you get the timing of the pitches down you won't throw any meatballs and its very rewarding.

Batting is all about taking that step at the right time.

I think most people never figured these things out and just label the game as crap.

People didnt like 2k8 because it was so boring to play. At least 2k9 is more exciting since they got rid of those boring annoucers Morgan and Miller.

2k7 was a better game, maybe next year

You're right man. 2K8 is an underrated game because no one gave it a chance with the frame rate issue and the lack of presentation. On the field with slider tweaks 2k8 is light years better than this softball game.

I completely agree with the original poster.

I didn't play 2k8. I played The Show last year. Went with 2k9 this year and am digging it. 2k9 LOOKS alot crisper, and the gameplay that everyone talks about hasn't shown itself to me yet. Maybe i just have a good set of sliders. Remember people, all these reviews are out of the box reviews. They don't mess with sliders to get the best settings for themselves, and then play. Find your right sliders, and the game could be 180 degrees from what you're playing now.

I'll miss RTTS mode, but i think i made the right choice with 2k9 this year.

After playing an evening with 2k9 and it's horrible fielding controls it's making 2k8 look like a masterpiece to me.

2K8 had gameplay? I must have missed that memo. I wonder what game you guys were playing.

I'm not saying 2K9 is great, but it's 1000 times better than 2K8 thats for sure.

What changed in fielding compared to last year?

                          Well there's a logical answer.

Last year there was an option for assisted fielding. With this on, when a ball was hit your defensive player would automatically start moving towards the ball and you could take control of him whenever you wanted.

If you went to the all manual fielding, your player would actually reach for balls that weren't hit right at him. In 4 games today I have seen on at least 5 occasions where I would have two players in position to make a play on either a pop fly on the infield or one of those 25 hop grounders that somehow make it to the outfield without either player putting a glove out.

Yeah the fielding this year a disaster.

I have not seen this once in the demo. I think the fielding is well done. Just my opinion.

The A.I hacks at everything in the strike zone.

We can't edit batting stances and pitcher deliveries anymore. No potential grade, and from what I heard, theres even a limit on how many players you can edit.

                              Take out slides are gone.

World Series celebration is a joke.

Dumbed down pitching controlls.Yeah, this is really what this series needed...An even easier way to pound the strike zone!

How is 2k9 better? It has more wrong with it than 2k8 ever did.

The only big improvements I see is the commentary, zone hitting,A.I steals and user base stealing controlls. All that stuff is great, but it's useless to me cause they took out the great stuff from past 2k baseball games.
