    Double Switch? STILL not fixed?

Ok, I got this game for the PC.

For at least FIVE YEARS, they still never got the double switch correct. Maybe I"m just not doing it right. Maybe two different development houses don't know the rules of baseball, I don't know. But how do I double switch when I"m up to bat.

Example. My pitcher is up at the plate. I want to double switch, The option is greyed out. I can bring in a pinch hitter, but then I can't keep him in the game the next inning(unless I want him to pitch). Is there ANY way around this? I tried defensive subs to move the guy I want to take out as a pitcher, didn't work. If I pick double switch the next 1/2 the inning, I have to take out the pitcher(which is the fielder I want to keep in).

    Anyone have any insight here?

That's not a true double switch. To do what you are asking, just bring in a pinch hitter like normal then when you take the field go to defensive subs and swap their positions.

Tried that. The pitcher spot is greyed out. I can swap other positions, even bring a pitcher in off the bench to play the field. But the guy that's currently on the mound, I can't move anywhere.

You should probably figure out what a double switch actually is before making a thread that claims the double switch is "not fixed".

You can't do it from the pause menu. You have to do it from the in game sub menu.

            OH! Damn I'm an idiot.

That used to not work with the old MLB 2k games on the PS2. At least now I can keep him in the game. They should make that a little more obvious.

Outside of that, I have to give the game a thumbs up. I played a few games so far and I'm liking it. Especially because of the PC $20 price tag.

I think I know what you are asking about.. It's not a "double switch" -- you want to keep the PH in as a field player.. Haven't tried that at all myself..

See, I've always considered that a double switch as well--just completed the 2nd 1/2 of the inning when the new pitcher takes the other spot in the order. Maybe some don't consider it an according to Hoyle DS, but it is what it is.

My real confusion came in that the older game on the PS2 didn't let you do that from any menu. Then this game only lets you do it from the on-field menu, and not the pause menu. This is the first I played of the next-gen ones for any real length of time. I'm just glad I can do it now. Thought I was going to have to take an AL team through the franchise.

                  Double Switch??

Is this feature broken? In scenarios that would call for a double switch, I am not allowed to perform the subs. Anyone else having this problem? If not, how do you do the double switch in this game?

Re: Double Switch? STILL not fixed?

                      Figured it out:

To get the player to stay in the game, you need to go to "defensive sub" menu. The player who pinch hit will be in the P's position. You need to highlight him and just switch positions with a player you want to replace. The PH now becomes that position, where the player you want to take out will be the pitcher. You then just need to swap out pitchers and you are done.

For instance, I had Tatis PH for Santana in a game. After the inning, I used the "Defensive Sub" menu and highlighted Tatis. I moved up the roster and selected Daniel Murphy to replace. Tatis now will become the LF (after hitting the switch button), and Murphy the P. I just went to the swap pitcher menu after that and brought in Sanchez to pitch..

                      Hope this helps.

In case people are still having problems. You hit pause, substitution, select double switch.

Then select the fielder you want to remove (this is where the pitcher will go), then it will prompt you to put the player you want into the Pitcher spot.

Thanks, this does work.. don't understand why you can't do it from the pause menu as it does list "double switch" as an option.

The double switch does work. I haven't had one problem with it yet.
