I found some interesting settings (PC)

I posted this over at my home (theperfectgame) This may help alot of you. Ill be working with this game a while to see what I can squeeze out of it.

    Here is the post

This game is addicting and coming more into its own now that I have a few games under my belt.

Ok lots of stuff I'm working on with this. One HUGE thing I found tonight is that there is a feature that is not on at default that you guys may have thought was on and it makes pitching more difficult. (at least for PC version)

If you go into controls, Then hit 4 it brings up the menu to turn on different hitting and pitching options. There is a pitching option to turn on called release timing. TURN IT ON and get used to it. There are difficulty sliders that contol this mechanism that people are fiddeling with that do nothing unless this is on. I don't know exactly how to control it yet but i threw three wild pitches because of it. I mean hit the durham bull bad. This I think changes the feel of pitching alot and for the better.

Another thing to do imo is turn the slider that allows for left stick hitting all the way down or off. I am working on adjusting sliders that allow HR without bothering with this. IT is possible that I may not be able to do this. IF not then I will tweak the slider back in there but so that not every time is a blast like it is now. I believe there is definatley a sweet spot to be found there.

I have the computer throwing very very good pitch counts but maybe a few to little walks but it is because I'm a free swinger. Also Hitting is harder than most think.

Most people are just pulling back and waiting. I believe that by waiting on the pitch pulling back and then pushing foward in one smooth motion you generate more power and a smooth swing. Replays and Early testing tonight show this to be true. This makes timing hitting much more difficult. And you better grow yourself a MEAN eye for balls and strikes. The good thing is I think I can adjust a very fun playable area for this too.

The only thing I cant do is adjust the fact that the PC is swinging away to much. not alot but to much. VC said they will patch this if they find it to be an issue. After testing the play I have the PC not swinging at alot of balls just off corners on me. It is indeed pushing my pitch counts up because I nibble the edges of the plate cause I try to not get hit Or at the very least not give them something solid to hit. This works into the new release timing setting making it harder to nibble the corners. I only played one game with this but Misses can be to much plate or to far off and I think this will actually end up causing me to walk some batters on accident when I fully understand the method.

Anyhow there is alot here and its gonna take me time. I am having FUN FUN FUN. Durning a game earlier today I went 19 innings with Boston. I lost 7-6. I had blown a 4-3 lead in the ninth and every few innings they took the lead by 1 and I got it back in the bottom to tie. It was an incredible game with alot of pitching management and small ball and fantastic plays. Some of the best baseball gaming I can remember since my HH days. I was cheering ne min at the screen fist pumping in the air. And cursing up a storm the next. It was Awesome.

Well I am out for now. Its bed time.

That's a placebo. Last year it was necessary to time the swing like that (step-influence). The developers stated that feature was removed this year, and that the pulling back motion has no influence on the swing quality. Pulling back simply sets the R stick in the "ready" position before pushing up to swing.

I am aware of what they stated. I only played like this for about three innings last eve. I can tell you the Replays looked a whole lot better. And the hits I had traveled much much better.

It could be because of a timing difference it creates for me that causes me to time better.

It is something I am looking into.

So what is this about? Is this release timing option not in the 360 version?

I dont have the 360 or PS3 version. My guess is its either on or people Turn it on very easily on the console versions.

It is hard to find and not set to on default on PC versions.

This turns on release point accuracy mechanism in the pitching. This then allows the two sliders Release timing and Hold timing to actually work. If this is off. These two sliders do nothing.

Just rented the 360 version. There is a release timing feature on/off.

I would like to know how the release timing exactly works. No instructions on how to pitch with this feature on.
