Scott I was bringing the .........

Had another good game online last night. 3 HRs were hit but other than that it was a great game. Pitching battle, once you figure out not to leave breaking pitchs sitting in the middle of the zone. I been playing with the Braves and Lowe has a killer sinker. I tend to throw it low and away and get guys chasing it out the zone hitting some grounders to 3rd.

I think custom games are going to be the way to go. But I can honestly say I think if you have a decent pitcher you can do the generic ranked game and not get shelled to bad if you pitch correctly.

I LOVE this game, it is just flat out fun. The show tends to get a bit boring after a while for me.

Anyone who is expecting a pure sim baseball game from a graphics/controller video game like this should have their head examined. As I mentioned in a previous post, it's IMPOSSIBLE to make a pure sim experience out of a game where the reflexes of the human player effects the outcome of each play.

There's a reason pure sim baseball games are text-based; so that the ratings and numbers decide the outcome of the play.

For example, Vlad Guerrero (sp?) is known for being a free-swinger. So when you're playing as the Angles to get a 'sim' experience you had better just swing at ANYTHING. How much fun will that be??

A few weeks from now the best players at 2K9 will be able to take the Orioles and sweep four out of four games at the Red Sox. Is that a sim experience? Well what if they program into the game "realism" and force the player to loose 2 or 3 of those games? Then people will complain that the CPU is cheating. They have to balance the impact of the stats with the player's input, but in the end either the player's skill will ovecome statistical shortcomings of the players they are batting/pitching as or the game will have to 'cheat' to force human players to fail based on those stats.

The best we can hope for is some kind of balance that keeps the game engaging and challenging.

2K9 certainly has its faults. A little more realism and consistency would be nice. But if you're looking for a pure sim experience you're whining up the wrong tree. I suggest OOTP baseball or Baseball Mogul.

i take back what i previously posted about the pitcher view when youre batting. the cpu catcher sets up in the spot where the ball will end up every single time no matter who is pitching. its like you have esp and know exactly where the ball will go before its thrown. totally ruins the whole experience.

I don't know if anyone else has talked about this but something minor that I miss from last year was the 100 prospects list. Even though the names were changed it was a simple edit that could be done as they usually pulled their Top 100 list from sites like ESPN. Also you can hardly find any organizations top prospects and it is a pain to create all of them on your own. I don't know about anyone else but I always enjoy bringing my prospects up through the minors and sometimes calling them up near the end of the season to get some MLB experience. It is just something that gets to me because most of them are missing and even the ones that have alter eago names are created incorrectly (white player being black or hispanic. Andrew McCutcheon of the Pirates who is black with dreadlocks is a doofy white guy in the game. Makes no sense.

Is anyone creating a roster file that will include most of team's big name prospects (something like the top 5 prospects in each organization)? I am going to try and work on it myself this weekend but if anyone is already doing it let me know because I would liek to help.
