I may have solved the CPU swingathon...

I am using guru's 2kshare v1.5 sliders and all i did was set the AI Batting Pitch Influence to 0 and i am in the 2nd inning of a game between the pirates and padres and i already have 1 strikeout with snell and have had a few 2-2 and 3-2 counts...

I've observed that by throwing a healthy amount of balls you will see the CPU start to take called strikes in the zone.

just finished the second and now have 2 strikeouts, not sure if 0 is best for this slider, may affect other teams plate production, but so far they have 3 hits and have had men in scoring position.

started a new game to see if it was a fluke... playing with indians vs a's and in the first lee loaded the bases and gave up a grand slam so i dont think setting it to 0 affects CPU hitting whatsoever. i also have the strike zone window turned on to see where pitches are in the zone. next batter i struck out on a 2-2 count. have also noticed swinging 1st pitch strikes that were in the zone and 2nd pitch strikes that CPU let go right through the zone.

side note: i believe the origin of this whole problem is due to the inside edge bug with the walk rating and overall rating. always being D and A or B respectively.

What does "AI Batting Pitch Influence" even mean?

i have wondered that as well. i by no means think this fixes the game, have yet to see a batter not swing on the 1st pitch if its in the zone, but now they do miss some... i think setting this to 0 does combat the REAL bug that causes this, but it does allow you to get deeper counts and even strikeouts.

bump for possible hope that this might work.

didn't work for me. 3 straight games. Threw a 1st pitch fastball on the outside corner and the leadoff guy rifled it into RF for a basehit

this isnt a fix by any stretch, but it is producing much more strikes for me, i am also using a hybrid of the OS and Guru 2kshare sliders now. i have gotten much more strikes using any sliders and the defaults, but now trying to fine tune sliders for myself.

I believe this means how much good wood you get on the ball dependent on where the Pitch is.

Meaning low & outside harder to pull for a HR, but might be able to pull it for a hit

i have to somewhat agree with this, i mean i throw balls that still intice the hitter to see if i can get the chase but if you throw more balls and not aim for all strikes you will get the cpu to take more strikes

i have done it 3 times in 4 games where i have had the cpu actually look at 3 straight strikes for a strike out, and i think it may have had to do with throwing balls, i could be off my rocker here but i have noticed it and that is without adjusting sliders to try and make the cpu take more strikes

I've gotten called strikes here and there, a lot of swings and misses, and a good amount of a lot of contact.

I would have to say like an earlier post, a good amount of balls and strikes, work around the plate, follow your catcher (sometimes)

throw a high heat fastball, he swings and misses, next throw an outside changeup, throw him off. it works

I interpreted AI Batting Pitch Influence as how much the pitch type affects what kind of contact the hitter gets, i.e. a sinker will be harder to elevate, etc. But it could just as easily be what you mention.

This is why 2K needs to explain these things.
