why would anyone make an online baseball game,where you cant really tell if its going to be a ball or a strike?i mean it really puzzels me,you have to swing and hope for contact or plan to not swing and hope for a ball and hope he will keep throwing balls like everyone does!,and half the time when you do make contact,its a home run,oh and one more thing,since you cant work the count what so ever,i try and change my batting controls to classic,so at least this way i can check swing,since its almost impossible to time pitches and check swing with default swing,and they dont even let you change controls,i have to say,im a big sports gamer and this is by far the worst online sports game this year,i just hope the leagues are better,this way i can atleast change controls!

mods plz dont close this,this really needs to be talked about,i hope thier will be a patch for all this.

I played on unranked/legend last night and had a blast. I didn't have a difficult time following most pitches but it can be tough to keep up with some of the better fastballs. When you think you see it you have to swing or it's blowing by you. My impressions are only after one game of online play though, I need to run a few more games to see if I continue to like it. Me and the guy I played mixed up balls and strikes pretty well and it was a lot of fun. What settings did you play on?

Interesting, we must be playing a different game, because when I play online with 2k9, the option to switch batting styles to classic was greyed out.

Other than that, i couldn't disagree more. I think this is one of the better online baseball games i've ever played, mostly because there was absolutely no lag in the games i've played.

well thats what im saying,you cant change them,if it were to let me,i would just check swing half the time when the guy is throwing garbage,but it doesnt let u do it man

i was just playing on the ranked reg. online,whatever one it is....
and the other thing i dislike is thiers like 5 homeruns in each game
its to hard to time good fast balls,play a ranked match and everone throws away fast balls,you swing and hit a homer or swing and get "late swing"

Oh yeah, i read what you typed wrong. Anyway, i disagree about the hitting too. I had a game where the final was 3-2, each team had 8 hits. Pretty accurate to me. Have you done much of the hitting? maybe you need practice picking up the pitches.

The best way to guess if you're getting a ball or strike is to look at pitch tendencies and understand them. IE: first pitch fast ball or if you notice they're using a 12-6 as their strikeout pitch ... It's all about tendencies.

I suggest playing unranked and trying some different settings. Just like in NBA 2K9, ranked games in MLB aren't played on a very high level of difficulty, so I'm not surprised if you're seeing a ton of homeruns.

I think you need to learn to be more patient and focus harder on trying to anticipate where the ball is going following the pitcher's release. In the game I played with a dude the other day the final score was 7-5 but there were only two home runs between us. If the opponent sees that you're willing to take strikes, the pitching/batter duel becomes a lot more mental than just swinging away at everything.

I'll probably try a ranked game later tonight to compare just how different my experience is.

I had a blast playing online last night. I would create a game and set it to all star with classic controls. The classic pitching isn't near as accurate as total control and I was able to draw walks from the other users, using classic batting really helps so you can check your swing. People are exploiting the pickoff though. You can just about pickoff anyone at anytime if you try enough times.

well thats the thing,offlline on a higher difficulty,im money with hitting,and i can really tell if its going to be a ball or a strike pitch,but when i get online,i cant stand that stupid delay crap,its clear its different then offline,and the games ive played so far were not fun whats so ever,i hope leagues will be better,so atleast this way i can get some fun out of online,the thing is,nba 2k9 was pretty good,i was in the top 500 one time,but you cant make a baseball game where you basicly have to decide whether to swing or not before the pitch even starts,its just not very fun,and it doesnt help that u cant check your own swing!

yeah man,its the only way to hit online with this game,so u can check swing,thats why im pumped for the leagues,this way i will change the controls man

its mostly on fastballs,they come in to fast,you cant watch the pitch on fastballs,3 forths of the time if you try and judge a fastball and u swing,it a " late swing"that show up,and i never get this offline!and its not my internet,cuz thier no lag

Ranked online is a joke and half, home runs all day. you have to pitch just off the strike zone, if you come even close to a strike it will get hit hard. and yes there is delay and yes its annoying after my second game i called it quits. If 2K ever changes the default ranked difficulty i might play again but not the way its set up now
