~Guru's~ Dodgers Roster Edit (Test Only) Draw Walks (Impressions Only)

This is just a test set. Only thing I did was max out the draw walk rating for all the Dodgers hitters to 100

Play against them and post the results of the game and pitch count along with strikes to walk ratio...

And any findings you come across...

I also posted my update slider set named Guru Slider V2.0

but you don't need to use my sliders for this test.

won't this just increase walks, not increase their taking of strikes? I mean they'll still swing like crazy at strikes, just not swing at balls anymore. It could give even more lopsided stats.

no this will not make walks happen to often...this has managed to not allow the cpu to hack at anythig you throw...

with this you have to be more on point with your pitching...if you try and just throw junk to make them swing and miss or hack...they will take more pitches

Once again..Sliders WILL NOT fix the a.i taking strikes issue..

We are now working on having higher pitch counts for the human..

only a 2K Patch can fix the a.i take strike issue..

But, wouldn't this make every player have a Barry Bonds OBP% in franchise mode?

You should sim a season to see if this is true or not.

Hmmmm, that's a good point. That may make it tricky for 2K to fix this since any changes they make to IE could throw the simmed stats off too.

guys this is just a test....to determine the root fo the issue for cpu hacking at pitches outside the zone...

if we are correct then we can send this to 2k so they know where the issue lies

i will sim a season with the dodgers and see how their waks come out

I moved all the CPU sliders to 0 and the CPU throws a ton of balls. I can easily walk, that's not an issue with this game. The problem is the CPU swings at too many pitches in the strikezone.

putting all their sliders at 0 is kinda cheating......you cant possible play like that

How is it cheating if it gets the CPU to throw a realistic number of balls? Isn't that simply "fixing the issue"? I play with user hitting sliders @ success 0, contact 20 and power 50 while using zone hitting, so it's not like I make a lot of contact.

you are not fixing the issue...you are handicapping the cpu...

it dont matter if you put your contact at 0

i tweak the sliders and can draw walks.....putting it at zero will make taking pitiches to easy....

but if it works for you then by all means...handle your business...

thats what sliders are. by raising sliders are you not handicapping yourself? so I guess you just play the game out of the box and roll with it no matter what so you dont cheat?

Baa7, you're right. Guru, the thing is, while your argument makes sense, what's center and all the way up and all the way down on sliders is relative. You attribute based on your own skills what "0" means and what "100" means, don't you? I remember on another ball game I'd have to put pitch speed at practically '0' to even get a chance to swing at anything. It was the only way for my skill level to reproduce accurate statistics. Otherwise, every CPU pitcher came away from a game with me with 18 Ks in his pocket. How is that realistic?

This just underlines really an argument I've believed for a long time that sliders are personal and can't really be shared unless they're for universal physics things in the game. The swinging CPU is one of them, for sure... just to get back on topic. I don't wanna hijack the thread now and make it about the integrity of sliders as a whole, so nobody expand on that now, ok? Let's solve our problem.

                        Thanks, guys.

I notice some CPU pitches miss the strikezone by up to 18 inches, yes. So it does help with recognizing whether it will be a ball or not. But there are many more pitches that are barely off the plate for balls, so it's not like it's dead simple to read every time. In fact, this series has never correctly replicated CPU pitcher "wildness". Typically, the vast majority CPU-thrown balls in 2K baseball are mere centimeters off the plate. And that's neither realistic, nor does it provide a satisfying hitting experience. The CPU NEEDS to be programmed to miss the plate by a bunch on a lot of pitches -- just like in MLB -- and that's what I'm trying for.

Just started a new game -- Tim Redding just walked two of my first five hitters.

                            BAA,

Off Topic...Are you using a custom set of sliders you created?

What have been your results w/ the CPU swinging/hacking using the sliders you have?

                            I'm using BigFnJoe's ST V.2

I am not saying that all sliders work for each player. But putting all cpu pitching sliders at 0 is like playing below rookie setting. even that setting does not have zero sliders. To me you have to tweak to your liking but having a drastic... let me put all cpu sliders at zero because i heard is hard to draw walks is not going about it right. but i digress
