Plain and simple, should I get MLB 2K9?

I bought 2K8, and sold it for $45 to my friend a week later. I bought 2K7, and sold it to a different friend a month later. I didn't buy 2K6. Before that, I played MVP.

So, I'm asking for opinions, lots of them. Is MLB 2K9 worth my $60 ($60 that I really can't afford to spend, I might add)...

NO. If you can't afford it really, and you sold off the past 2 MLB 2k games that quickly than you will be dissapointed by 2k9. It will not change your mind and you will feel cheated. Maybe check back after a patch, assuming there is one.

Quite simply - no. There are too many flaws in this game to be worth the money . . . Sliders wont fix it, and if 2K really cared about the product, they would not release it in the condition it is currently in . . .

Why rent when I can just play the demo?

Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance yet.

No...It has just as many things wrong with it as past 2k baseball games, so why bother?

2k should have kept the $20 price tag they had 5-6 years ago.Thats about all their baseball games are worth.Which is why I might get 2k9 for the PC, and cause I have a feeling that modders are going to be able to add some cool stuff to the game.

Good call. You can't change any settings in the demo, but it will give you a good idea of what the game is like.

But play the demo before you go asking people if you should buy it

Re: Plain and simple, should I get MLB 2K9?

It depends how you play the game really...

As of right now, I think its a pretty good sim game for baseball with some kinks in it. Deal-breakers will be what happens with the patch as the kinks can get annoying.

I, for one, know I'll get my $60 worth just because I'll play 162 games in a franchise and that roughly 140 hours of playtime...thats more than some of the better RPGs...

nonetheless, I think anybody should check out the demo or rent it before playing it. You have to know you can get into it enough to play it for multiple-multiple games.

                    my 2 cents...
                    The Buckeyes WILL prevail!

I'd rent it because honestly the game plays way different than the demo if you ask me. Not to mention the demo is limited and you can't test everything out on the demo like online play. If you weren't pleased with 2K7 or 2K8 then 2K9 most likely wont please you.

You asked whether or not you should buy it, not wheter or not u should rent it.

Based on my time with the Demo, I say no.

i rented it and won't be buying it if that answers your question. It's the same ole, same ole 2k. It's worth a rent if you really like baseball. That's about it.

Wait after the patch since I haven't played since Saturday when I got the game. I was furious to not be able to throw call strikes vs cpu for three straight games.

However, the game is so fresh and clean that you'll grow to love it if you are patient and wait for an update to fix all the bugs the game has. To me the game feels like MVP 2005 when on the field and when hitting. The homeruns are sweet and the camera catches every step of the way. It has a great baseball feel and the only thing missing for me is the AI aggression at the plate. I love walks and being patient at the plate so this feature is a must. Love to play with the A's and Jays, teams that draw walks and wait for the long ball. I can't play with teams like the Angels or National League teams, with hit and run, steals, bunts.

Hopefully this helps anyone that has the same question you do.

I'd say no. If you lost interest in 2K7 and 2K8 so fast, then 2K9 will likely be the same for you. It's kind of all over the place and needs some work.

For some, it may be worth it for the fun factor they may get with it. It sounds like, based on your brief given history, you would not fit into that category.
