    Where is the customization?

    Seriously.

    Where is it?

I'm sure this has been beat to death, but I am going to add to the pile. Hopefully this post doesn't get deleted, because maybe we can get something done so 2K can give us a patch so we can edit EVERYTHING.

    Here's what you can't edit:

    Batting stances
    Pitching deliveries
    Pitch types
    Certain pitching attributes
    Skin color*

These were all things that we could edit in last year's game... Why would this be left out? Especially the skin color. There are prospects in the game who should be black but they are white, and vice-versa. There is no option to change their skin color.

This is just poor... Why on earth do you take customization and the ability to edit away from the gamer when you have given them full control in the past? There is simply no excuse for this... We should get full control to customize EVERYTHING, because 2K has proved that they can't get things right when it comes to player details.

What gives? Does anyone know why they jobbed us this year on the ability to have full control over editing? It can't be anything to do with the license, as these options were available in 2K8. Just laziness?

VC also took over the NHL 2K series this year and removed many options from that game as well. It seems to be their new "spin" on next-gen gaming... sort of the backwards EA approach. If you remember, Madden had many old-gen options removed in the first new-gen versions. Some of the apologist mods on the 2K forum are defending the removal of these features, saying VC is hard at work rewriting/restructuring the game code and that these features will be in the game next year. We'll see. But for now, the inability to edit stances and pitch ratings makes this game a definite no-purchase for me.

I think I remember you as being someone who enjoyed last year's version of the game. I lurked around here.

I liked last year's version a lot better to be honest with you. At least it was playable to me. It was not perfect, but I could have fun playing it. I can't do that with this year's game. I am sick of the excuses. I am tired of the "next year" line. That line has been used time after time. If these features aren't released in a patch, I am done with 2K sports. I've been loyal ever since I purchased my first title from them, but this is it. So, there will be no "next year" for me.

I agree though, not being able to make simple edits is mind boggling and no excuses can be made for that. None. These were features that were available on the older consoles, and you're telling me that with all the firepower these new consoles have, you can't keep normal features in the game?

1B coming off the bag on a routine basis is another thing that kills me. I hate the AI aggressiveness but if that was the only MAJOR flaw, I could deal with it and continue to be optimistic -- but the truth is, this game is full of holes and it's not a viable option. It's a horrible game.

The swing stick in last year's game was a brilliant innovation. This year, VC cut it's nuts off when they removed the step-influence. It's now nothing more than a vertical button pushing system. That to me is as inexcusable as their decision not to allow editing. I've had a lot of respect for VC since NFL 2K5, but they're now nothing more than sellouts. They're developing their games now to appeal to casual gamers. And it's a BAD move, seeing that 2K fans, being sim gamers, could always forgive 2K's crappy QA because we would always be guaranteed a game one could fine-tune with edits and sliders. Now all we get are crappy games with all the options removed. Sad to see 2K/VC fall so far the past few years.

You know, I think what I'm going to do is try playing a season without worrying about the editing. I usually create players and tweak things, but maybe this year I'll just have to try something different. I do like the zone hitting in 2K9, and the hit variety is very nice. I'm thinking if I can bend my mind around the fact that so much is missing, maybe I can enjoy the game for what it has to offer?
