    Too many injuries?

I've seen this touched in some threads but did not see a full thread?

Is anyone else getting ridiculous injuries "out of the blue".

I have played 8 games in my franchise and these are the following injuries,

    Hamels - 1st inning - elbow - out 142 days
Kendrick 2nd inning (replacing Hamels) groin - 68 days
I pick up Sheets his first game 7th innning - torn knee - out 128 days.

I like playing with injuries but losing 3 pitchers for that long by just pitching seems extreme to me. They weren't covering a play, running and sliding just threw a pitch and blammo.

Do I have to monitor their fatigue? Is there a slider I haven't seen? I'd hate to turn them off but this is getting ridiculous. 3 MAJOR injuries in 8 games.

On the contrary I've played 5 games using the Phillies, and haven't seen a single Philly get injured. The only time I saw injuries was when playing the Braves where Jurrjens and Soriano both left the game w/ injuries, and both landed on the 15 day DL.

Its completely random since both our results are completely opposite. Take it and run w/ it...Sounds like a good time to give Carlos Carrasco a call-up IMO.

Yeah I had to turn off injuries in my franchise. Every game I played in the opposing team was losing 2 or 3 of their players almost every game. I know the fact that no injuries is not realistic, but its better than a team losing nearly half its roster in a 3 game series.

IMO adversity like this fuels my desire to play, and try and win w/o my best players. It gives a whole new feel to the game. Seeing pitchers get injured this year is refreshing, and besides...aside from last yr Cole was always getting injured. I know he's been able to have a chiropractor travel w/ him on road games so that has helped him stay healthy, but we don't have that luxury in 2K9 .

Honestly...Ben Sheets is always injured too. It sucks that he got injured w/ you so quickly, but it was more or less inevitable.

I knew Sheets wasn't going to last the season but I thought he would last more than 7 innings . And I overpaid too ..... damn it.

            So my rotation is now
            Myers
            Moyer
            Blanton
            Park
            and probably - Carrasco

            :vomit:

                Re: Too many injuries?

There are some injuries that make no sense........ I am using the Mets in my franchise and a ball is hit in between ss and 3b. I feild it with ss and the 3b never moved. After the out was recorded David Wright Pulled his back or something is out for 20 days.... He never moved he was still crouched down waiting when i got the ball.... I dont mind the injuries it is like real life and you need to use your farm or make a trade depending on the situation but at least when they get hurt make it look like it the guy doesnt move and he gets hurt hard to believe

                  Re: Too many injuries?

This is consistent with what I've had. A rash of injuries. Stars tell you who went down in the same game.

                  Wily Taveras 1 day
                  Jay Bruce 1 day
                  Francisco Cordero 3 days
                  Homer Bailey 4 days
                  Brandon Phillips 32 days *
                  Aaron Harang 31 days *
                  Bronson Arroyo 29 days *
                  Wilkin Castillo 131 days

                    Re: Too many injuries?

Sounds pretty random to me. I have played 4 games and have seen only 1 injury to the opposing team and none for myself yet. Look at Detroit last season Willis most of season, Bonderman 1/2 season, Rogers, Zumuya, Rodney all were injured last place was inevitable.

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

I am 10 games into my Mets franchise and have yet to see a single injury (which at the moment I'm happy about). I did smack on right into the opposition pitcher and he was out for 10 games.

Well it makes me feel a little better I guess not everyone is seeing them.

I'll keep them on for now and struggle for the rest of the year. They just didn't want a REPEAT!!!!
