    Has Anybody Else Noticed This?

I'm not exactly sure why, but I went back to MLB 2k8 the other day and I noticed that for whatever reason, it seems much easier for me to read the pitches in 2k9 as compared to 2k8. In 2k8, I couldn't help but swing at pretty much everything, while in 2k9, I've been earning walks and waiting for the right pitch. Has this happened with any1 else or am I just crazy?

Is because you're aware of breaking balls via the different colors, and know when to lay off a pitch?

I am reading pitches better as well, so you are not the only one. I think that last years you could swing at every pitch and be good at the game. Also, I am glad they took out the 3-0 count= fastball down the middle.

I couldn't hit a 3-0 pitch last year because I knew it would be a home run.

This is one of the things they advertised about the game before release. I agree, it is easier to read pitches.

I think it's at least partly because the pitch speed is slowed down overall from last year too.

You're not seeing thing though IMO, it's much easier for me as well.

yeah it seems slower to me too. i only have the demo right now, but ill probably be getting the game after the next patch comes out probably. i didnt love last years version, which is why im a little hesitant to get this one, but ive liked what ive seen so far in the demo.

idk how to describe it really, it seems kinda obvious to tell a fastball from a curveball but maybe its just me. the only one that i cant get a good read on is the changeup cuz it looks a lot like a fastball but its much slower so a lot of times ill strike out on changeups, but other than that, the other pitches r pretty straight forward.

Re: Has Anybody Else Noticed This?

I have attributed my newfound ease of hitting to the new camera angle at this point. Pulling the camera away from the batter seems to have provided an extended and improved view of what the pitcher is delivering, in terms of speed and movement.

I have earned 3 walks in 5 games and have had at least 8 3-0 counts.

It definitely has to do with the camera angles and the game is brighter than it was last year.

I thought in the dev diary or some other interview they said that was why they wanted to change the default camera angle for batting. I agree that i does seem easier to read. I still have issues of course but I always do as I have no depth perception at all, so curve balls especially are always hard for me to tell when they are near the plate. But it is definitely easier for me to see if a pitch is going to be off the plate compared to the last couple years. I am drawing way more walks than I ever used to, still not enough to be as realistic as I would like, but getting there I think.

I know many people are hating the game and just gave up, but I still say even with the problems this is so much better than what we have had the past couple years. I have already plated more games in exhibition mode and franchise mode than I did the last two years combined because I am enjoying it so much. Hopefully the patch will fix the AI aggression and then it will be even better.

I'm glad you brought this up thught because I wondered if it was just me that felt it was easier to see the pitches. I also don't see the colors until after the pitch either.
