How much longer does 2K have the MLB license?
I am not intending this thread to become a flame fest but I am wondering because 2K has done such a lackluster job at producing baseball games ever since they gained the exclusive license (actually before as well). I have been a long time XBOX owner and played MVP 2005 religiously. I was forced to play MLB 2K6, then 2K7 and I even gave 2K8 a try. All of them were not just bad, they were terrible. Especially compared to MVP 2005. Again, I'm not trying to be a troll but let's just say that I own another next gen system now (I still have the 360) that I use for only one game every year. It is sad that baseball fans have to either play what 2K puts out or shell out a significant amount of money for a quality baseball game. The exact same thing is happening in football as well, but not to this degree. I just wonder what Major League Baseball's take on 2K's offering is. Do they care that the "exclusive" game is terrible? Something has to give.Tags: None -

You started a thread exactly like this just a few weeks ago, and it got locked......did you forget or something?
Here's your other thread (which contains the answer to your question):

Re: How much longer does 2K have the MLB license?
What 2k and especially EA have done with the mlb and nfl respectively is a travesty. I am hoping that it does not get renewed or 2k gets bought out. We are all the losers in these deals. The wrong companies are doing the wrong sports.
2k should have gotten the NFL and EA mlb.
I have often imagined what an MVP 09 could have been or nfl 2k9. Its sad.Comment

I love seeing trolls exposed. This guy obviously plays the other game going by his posts in that forum but feels the need to start trouble here. Glad he was put on blast. Not only that he was given an infraction and the thread was closed just like this one will be I assume.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: How much longer does 2K have the MLB license?
Another one of these threads...
I think we can all agree that exclusive licenses are generally bad for sports video gaming and would actually HELP 2K create a better game when they know their sales are being directly affected on the non-Sony consoles.
But is 2K9 a travesty? Far from it.Last edited by CarryTheWeight; 03-14-2009, 11:29 AM.Owner of URWL CAW WRESTLING: http://www.rantboard.net/Comment

Re: How much longer does 2K have the MLB license?
I don't understand what's so bad about these threads. The guy is just asking a question. I'm frustrated as **** to be perfectly honest. I didn't go out and buy MLB 2K9 but I rented it last week and I was disappointed. Usually, I'll gripe about not getting the game if it sucks but then I end up going out and getting it anyway because I love baseball games. But for the first time, I'm sticking to my guns and not supporting this mess. I wish that I had some other option. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that there's NO OTHER OPTION on a platform as large as 360.
I used to hold 2KSports to such high standards because of NFL2K5 and the NBA 2K series but the past couple they've showed you how not to make an platform exclusive baseball game. When EASports took over the NFL Franchise I thought "damnit, EA doesn't have competition anymore. There goes football gaming. They were already lazy." But they've honestly impressed me with their dedication to at least putting a high quality product out there every year and especially with their heavy involvement with hardcore sports gaming societies like this one. They could have gotten a little lazy but they know that game is their cash cow and it needs to be a great game. 2KSports took the baseball license and essentially shut us out. They drop new info only a month before the game is out and there's basically no type of updates while the game was in early development because the game was just too shotty. I don't think that's acceptable. The guys at EASports have been dropping weekly progress reports & videos on Madden and that game is like 4 months away. Fight Night is three months away yet we've got a ton of info lately and actual gameplay vids. Maybe 2K should stop paying additional money for licenses and put more money and time in developing a better game that they feel confident about. Seriously? XBOX360 owners have to wait three years to get a quality game just because 2KSports has the license and they're treating this as a project? Really? That's BS.
I thought MLB2k8 was decent for the most part after the patch and I'm sticking with that and my Astros dynasty. I understand that these type of threads aren't necessarily constructive but for God sakes, that doesn't mean that we can't voice our frustration. It's just sad. I had my $60 dollars ready for 2K9 and everything. Also, it doesn't make sense to me why some 360 owners on this board continue to support being silent with your frustration. If you make a bad comment about this game then you're automatically a troll for the Show. Gamespot gave the game a 4.5 most likely because they viewed the game is unacceptable for us 360 owners considering we've only got one game. They probably wanna send a message to 2K to get serious about the game. Yet people are on here bashing Gamespot. Hey people, GAMESPOT IS ON OUR SIDE!!! I'm really sorry for the rant, but I haven't done this, and I just needed too.Comment

Re: How much longer does 2K have the MLB license?
Good post Albsur. A lot of folks are trying to talk themselves into liking the game. A lot feel loyalty towards the xbox and given its their only option feel they must defend the game or pretend that there are no problems. These same types like to impose their will on others into thinking the same way.
Some really do like the game.
I think there is room enough for all three types of posters.Comment

I was'nt pointing the finger at you Jeffy. I said that in general and I believe it completely. I am going to buy this game myself but not until it drops as I am pretty sure it will now. I am hoping the next patch improves as much as I think it will.Comment
