Re: Could someone explain the whole exclusive license thing?
It's simple really.
Sony is a first party developer,2ks license only locks out 3rd party development (EA).
Microsoft could make an MLB game if they so desired.
That is the difference between the exclusivity deals.....
EA's- locks EVERYBODY out from making an NFL game on the consoles.
TT-2k- locks 3rd party development out,but first party developers could still make an MLB game (Sony,Microsoft)People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack Lambert -

Re: Could someone explain the whole exclusive license thing?
i would think they do not want to compete with 2k for a baseball game on the 360..which at this point would take away the sales of 2k9. 2K knows this and also knew they would be the only game on the 360 for baseball. Sony loves the deal though! :-)Comment

Re: Could someone explain the whole exclusive license thing?
Of course, but that was over 9 years ago, before the original Xbox, I think they should rethink this. At least give it a try, the more games the better, especially with some competition.Michigan Wolverines

Re: Could someone explain the whole exclusive license thing?
MS owns the rights to the High Heat franchise. I wish they would use it...lol
Baa's right though. The only reason they wouldn't use such a popular baseball title is because it's not fiscally intelligent to do so.
Baseball games, like or not (lump me in with the "nots"), are not money makers overall. MS probably stands to at best break even (and likely even lose money) if they were to develop a HH (or any other) baseball game. The market is just not there for a new baseball game to compete with two others.
An unfortunate reality (or is it "inconvenient truth"...lol)

Re: Could someone explain the whole exclusive license thing?
No, they put out a baseball game 5 years ago. And they owned the Links series and put out Links 2004 on the Xbox. They disbanded their video sports department after that game.Comment
