    Trouble with right stick batting?

Sometimes when I push up with the right stick my batter won't swing at all or is very, very late. This happens on and off line. I'm trying to figure out if it is something I'm doing wrong or if it is in relation to something the pitcher does well (i.e. hit a MAX on the pitch). The only thing I can think of that I could be doing is maybe not pushing straight up when I swing...maybe the stick is going just a little to the right or left. Can't be much though and it seems like this would be driving others crazy too if it is that sensitive.

    Anyone else notice this?

I had this happen alot to me. It was mostly a timing issue as I was used to last year's STEP INFLUENCE where I was pulling back on the stick as the pitcher's leg was moving up during his delivery.

Now, I start my back swing a bit earlier and am having more success. I really wish VC left the Step Influence in. It kinda feels a bit cheesy to have your batter in the 'ready' position so soon in the pitcher's windup.

I wondered if it was because I stepped back really early. I tried waiting until the pitcher started his delivery to start my backswing but haven't been able to play enough since to see if it makes a noticeable change. Hope I can get this figured out. It is very frustrating to be right on a pitch and the batter won't swing.

Well, I gave right stick batting a try this year and am finding that it is, in fact, unresponsive at times. I've tried a few controllers to make sure that it wasn't an equipment problem. Plus the fact that you can't direct your hits by swinging the stick in various directions (like 2K8) makes the swing stick less flexible.

While I'm aware that you have to direct your hits with the left stick, the non-response issue has forced me to switch to classic hitting (X Button).

I believe that the real reason behind the issue is the fact that the Step Influence has been removed from the game.

If you're having the same issue, try classic hitting. You'll still have to aim with the left stick, but it's more responsive. I'm having fun again.
