    Player portraits

Why are the player portraits in this game so woefully out of date? Various players who were traded during 2008 are still wearing their old caps and some players who have been around long enough don't a picture at all. No new FA signings are shown in their new teams.

Most notably: Manny's pictured as a Red Sox (!) and
Red Sox pitcher Okajima doesn't even have a picture, despite being in the Majors for 2 years.

The Show at least cg'ed caps so new FA signings didn't stick out like sore thumbs or at least gave them genetic hats. For example, the Mets' new signings (K-Rod, Putz, Redding) all in Mets caps. In 2K, I get K-Rod in a bright red Angels Cap.

I'm aware this is sorely cosmetic and doesn't effect gameplay, but baseball's a thing of little details, which 2K simply doesn't understand (see: uniforms). Would a roster update address this?

Yeah you would hope that 2k could update some pictures, atleast of the most notable players through a living roster update. I don't know if that's possible, but it could be.

Yeah, even if they don't do it, it would be nice to know what they are capable of doing through the living roster feature.

The same goes for this second patch. Regardless of what it will fix and when it will be available, it would be nice for them to say, this, this and this cannot be fixed via patch, just so people don't get their hopes up for something that is basically impossible.

The reason for the Manny pic is simple: the guy hasnt taken a spring training portrait in ages. Hench the photoshopped mug on the dodgers website

I believe it is also tied into the MLB pressbox photos. SCEA and 2K LIKELY have access to the same photos for headshots, which are taken in spring training the prior year. The cool thing SCEA does is they go the extra mile and photoshop the same set of headshots. 2K just goes off what was taken last spring. That's why you see CC in a Tribe hat, even though he is two teams removed from the Tribe. That is what was available in spring 2008 and that is what they used.

2K8 was weird though as they reused a lot of old photos from 2K7. But weird in that with Abreu, someone from Kush edited his mug to be in a Yankee hat in 2K7 (check out if you still have the game). But in 2K8, they reverted all the way back to his Phillies hat. Weird. I would LOVE to see 2K/VC update the portraits! It is a little thing but it goes a long way to the authenticity.

What are you complaining about? 99% of the photos were from 2008, major + for the new devs as some of the 2K8 pics were from 2004....
