    Flawed Game, but good start...

I have to confess. I haven't bought the game yet. I've been renting it for about 10 days, and have put in about 30 games or so. My not buying it has to do with me being out of work at the current time, not with the quality of the game.

    Speaking of which...

This a flawed game. There are some glitches, bugs and hang-ups that plague the game, but I have to confess: I can't really step away from it. In spite of the gaffes, this is a decent game. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it is an enjoyable game. I think after patch #2 is released it will be even better.

IMO, 2K/VC has given us a pretty solid foundation. The game harkens back to MVP Baseball 2003, when EA scrapped the Triple Play series and started from scratch. There were several flaws with that game, but playing it I could sense that they were on the right track. I get that feeling with 2K9. There are flaws, but I still find myself enjoying the game. I've got a sense that VC and 2K will build on it for the future.

    Just my 2 cents...

I agree 2K9 seems like a decent foundation, the hitting in particular. But VC absolutely has to fix the horrible animations and AI. If they do, next year's game will be the one I purchase. The Show is stagnating, and I'm not going to spend $500 on a PS3 when I can play the exact same game -- sans graphics -- on the PS2. 2K9 is headed in the right direction, and with another year to work on it, I think VC might be able to hit -- I hesitate to say "home run" -- a triple at least.

I'd give it a double, but they're on the right track. Animations need to be fixed. There is still a ridiculous amount of skipping and sticking in the framerate. Stealing and CPU aggression need to be fixed as well. But it's a decent start.

I think this year, VC was so focused on overhauling some of the major elements of the game that they missed many little details that needed to be fixed. If they take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves. I appreciate their effort in a few facets of the game but next year's game needs to refine and improve across the board. The potential is certainly there. What 2K9 lacks is certainly fixable, and a developer like Visual Concepts should know, based on their successes in the past, that the wide array of "minor flaws" need to be accounted for in order to deliver a successful title.

Wow. Did mommy not nurse you long enough? We get it. You don't like the game. Now move along, Sparky.
