I just hope they don't let me down like last year when they said they were going to fix the online lag, but never did
The control/button mapping issue has to be near the top of the list. It's bad enough the game went out with more bugs than Terminix can handle, but it's doubly frustrating for those who have perfectly working Xbox360 wireless or Logitech 12-button gamepads not to be able to calibrate their stuff and make it stick.

the thing is that this 2nd patch has things in it that should have never been a problem. the devs should have found these problems out during the development of the game. some of these fixes are major issues for a baseball game. If the stuff thats included in both patches was already in the final game, the reviews would have been much much better. the game was hurt by minor nagging issues.

The fact that the 2k9 wasnt ready out of the box isnt that big of a deal if they have it ready to go for Opening Day. VC had a limited year cycle to completely overhaul the game, some people seem to forget, so they should get a little more leeway.

The biggest problem all along has been comparing it to the precision of the Sony dev team on The Show, and the end result out of the box. If The Show did not exist, human nature would dictate more latitude with 2K9. With that being said, The Show is leaps and bounds better than 2K9 can hope to be. It is the core fundamentals of the design of the game that 2k9 cannot patch, that hampers it this year. The patch just fixes bugs, hopefully.

Can we please stop with this allusion? VC themselves stated they had a full development cycle with 2K9, so this notion they should be given leeway because they didn't is completely false.

I'm at the same point right now. Each game I play includes several ridiculous errors that ruin it. It's become obvious to me there's no way 2K/VC didn't know these were issues and released the game anyhow.

So until the patch comes out, MLB 2K9 is pretty much relegated to the shelf. And the quality of this patch may have a lot to do with whether or not I consider buying it next year. I'll have a PS3 soon, so you know what that means

That's where I'm at right now too. I'm a bonafide Showaholic, but I want to see this game at its full potential too. I think the upcoming patch (and PC mods) will do that, and I'll probably be giving it a lot more playtime as the season goes on.

                I just hope that:

                1. The patch has already been given to Microsoft.
                2. It's out by opening day.
                3. It does everything it says it will. If so, I'll be more than satisfied.

Visual Concepts did have a full development cycle, starting with another developer's busted code. In my mind, they do get some slack -- for the mere fact they had to clean up someone else's mess.

I really hope that this patch fixes many of the problems I have been hearing about. I havn't played it so I'll reserve any judgement, but I really want this game to succeed because although I enjoy the Show, variety is the spice of life imo. The good old days of having to choose between 5-6 baseball games are gone, so I truly hope they step up. I will def. give this game a shot once a few kinks are worked out.

Maybe what they mean by HUD is that abomination of a pitching meter. Maybe they decided to remove the yellow and make it a more transparent color

If a game has been released and is in need of two patches within it's first two weeks, there IS NO WAY it can ever reach a rating above 7. F- that. I won't buy the game, cuz at the end of the day 2k doesn't measure their success by the quality of the game they put out, but the numbers it moved. If I sell myself short and support a ****ty game, like folks here are doing, then I can't complain when they put this crap out next year, like they've been doing so with EVERY title.

Then I'm assuming you havent bought a sports title in 3-4 years now.

All of these games have pretty much sucked on ice out of the box, without patches for the past couple of years.

Actually 2k games are the only games like this that are unplayable out of the box(with no sliders, no patches).

Madden has its issues, but I found the game very enjoyable out of the box.

NHL 09 was amazing, as was Fifa.

NBA Live sucks, we can all agree, as for March Madness, but they are playable if you didnt enjoy the potential of 2k basketball.

NBA 2k9 was pretty unplayable. 1) The Computer would be in the paint all game long 2) If you played online people could and still would just play with Lebron or Kobe

MLB is a joke. Thats all we need to say.

So to summarize, EA >>>>> 2k. 3 years ago, 2k >>>>>>>>>>> EA. How the times have turned!

And yet EA has nothing to do with any of this. So, this is basically just another rant about 2K. Got it.
