G4 X-Play Review of MLB 2K9

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but here's a very brief review from G4:

I honestly cant figure this game out. I really enjoy the demo of the game, but the reviews of it keep me from laying down the $65 dollars necessary to get it. I am a high school student that pays for his own gas, so money can be tight at times and some of the reviews take me away from the gut reaction I have for the game. But I think this weekend I will finally give in and go with my gut.

Just rent it man. If you don't like it, you're only out $5 or $6. If you do like it you can probably pick it up used.

yeah, i actually just found it on amazon for $39.99 new with free shipping and pulled the plug. i am so glad that i finally made up my mind!

There's a reason you found it $20 lower than the retail price so soon...

Trust me, you have better things to spend $40.00 than this game. Do what a lot of OSers are doing -- buy 2K7 for $10, use a good set of sliders and update the rosters. It's a lot more rewarding experience.

This is a solid game. Sure it has it issue, but it is a fun game to play.

Trust me, you have better things to spend $40.00 than this game. Do what a lot of OSers are doing -- buy 2K7 for $10, use a good set of sliders and update the rosters. It's a lot more rewarding experience.

Hopefully, the 2nd patch will clean some irritations up.. 2k7 was better than 2k8, but that's not saying much. To say that 2k9 isn't as fun as 2k7 is crazy imho... besides the graphics, 2k9 beats it in every other category.

What about 2k8? Cause i just got that for 15$ yesterday. I tried doing the total control but in the 2nd Inning i was down 12-1 and ive given up 6 HR to the Mariners. I switched to the Classic and Lost 3-2 in the 9th. But is 2K7 funner than 2k8?

the game is good...need to learn how to pitch and steal but worth the money...its not easy...you need patience...alot of people complain, however, i dont think they put alot of practice into it...read on how to steal..pitch..its all here in these threads

LMAO the avg review for this game was about 6.75-7.25.

And they dont give reviews post-patch, they figure the game is worthy when the company decides to ship it out to all you like 2k fanboys.

Yes the game will be better, but significantly, I'm not so sure yet.

I rented it for 2 weeks and could not put it down. It's not nearly as bad as it's being made out to be.

THAT SAID...

There's still a lot of work to be done. I can't fork out the $60 right now for it for a number of reasons, the least of which is not the fact that I'm currently unemployed.

I did buy The Show for my PS2 and am enjoying it a lot. But once the patch is released and I get a job, and I can see myself buying 2K9. It's really not that bad.

I bought it on day 1 and have not played anything but, this game since. I have been trying to get some CH2k8 in with March Madness but, I can't stop playing MLB2k9. It is a good game that will be a great game come with the 2nd patch.
