    Has anyone tried this?

I was using bigfnjoe's sliders and was getting ok pitch counts but have since gone back and just played on the default difficulty levels. What i do is just throw pitch counts out the window for user and cpu. I play on legend. You can try allstar as well or pro but legend seems to give the most realistic games and tones down the user homerums. I know this won't please the sim gamer in all of us but what I end up with in the end are some really fun games with realistic box scores minus the pitch counts and walks. The games are tight and fun and hit variety is realistic. Me personally I love sim baseball but at the same time its almost more fun to wiz through a few games at lightning speed especially on legend where the speed of the game is on crack almost. I'd love to sit there and see all the nuances and battles but at the same time I'm still seeing a lot of good stuff in an arcade style and i don't have to sit here for 2 hours. A game is over in 30 minutes. I can see what 2k was aiming for here and why it's misunderstood. With the patch and with some sliders you can try to make this game sim but it's fun this way? It's weird because these games dont seem realistic but in the end i look back and say damn that was fun and the box scores are actually realistic minus the pitch counts.

I guess you haven't read my thread about default legend... I love it!

I realize a lot don't like this game but I really like it for this reason. This game freakin rocks man. It's misunderstood. Stop trying to make it a sim.

It could use a patch and some good sliders and tuning to really strike that balance between arcade and sim and if they do that i will be thrilled. Some of the stats after the game i look at are a letdown(especially from a batter perspective i'm still not seeing realistic k's and pitch counts from the cpu) but if they can somehow do that and lower the cpu batter aggressiveness a bit.. What i'm seeing right now on default legend are really fun games. You just can't obsess about it too much. Here's to crossing my fingers on the patch and if not it might be a year. I really like the direction this game appears to be heading though. I took a break from this game for a week or so and came back and I love it even more. That's a good sign. This game has so much potential. It's just missing that balance.

lol...is it me, or is this a change in fronts? Weren't you the one going around trying to convince us all it IS a sim?

Not saying that to be mean (admittedly a bit sarcastic though...all in good fun), just a bit confused by this new viewpoint.

First it sucked, then it could be worse, then we all needed to learn how to play as it's meant to be played sim, and now it's misunderstood and shouldn't be played as a sim. Or am I misunderstanding this?

            Re: Has anyone tried this?

I get a good mix with Bigfnjoe's latest sliders yeah. It depends on what you want with this game. I was just having a blast playing it arcadish with the contact sliders up.

All you really have to do is take legend difficulty lower the contact sliders and up the user power a bit and lower the cpu strike tendency and it plays sim for the most part. Serious. Take legend. Move contact sliders for both cpu and user to 0. Move the cpu pitching strike tendency to 0. Move the batting power for user up to about 65 and you have a sim game. There's a few balancing issues there but bigfnjoe has a nice mix because you also have to adjust the user pitch break influence so you dont k the cpu too much with that, and you can up the gesture stuff as well slightly to make it more realistic if you dont hit your gesture perfectly.

This game plays pretty sweet dude. Once they patch it and if we can keep working on sliders to perfect this game is going to be real close. There are a few anomolies here and there i don't like as far as fielding and baserunning miscues, still ai batters are a bit too aggressive and slightly too much contact but hopefully the patch will improve that stuff. If i want more realistic pitch counts I do that though. I was just having fun cruising through games without the pitch counts and the games were still competitive and the boxscores were realistic minus the pitch counts and walks. Ultimately I think the patch and good sliders will give this game that good mix.

              Re: Has anyone tried this?

This game is one of the better baseball games I have ever played. Honest. I'm not comparing it to the other game because I think that game is more polished and better overall. The Show is quite possibly the best baseball game ever made along with MVP.. But what I'm seeing here is the good of both worlds. Out of hte box its a fun arcade game and with sliders you can make it a sim pretty easily if you understand what the sliders do. It took some time for people to understand this stuff and what the sliders do and to get a good mix, but if you read the slider forums they are getting there. Most of the complaints imo were people getting used to the controls and not understanding what the sliders do and how inside edge works. Plus the game is just rough around hte edges in areas that need to be addressed by 2k. FIelding in particular needs to be smoothed out along with the AI aggressiveness. It's 2k and 2k is always clunky and robotic and scripted. But the depth of gameplay is there with this game.
