Maybe it's better on PC and 360, but the PS3 version of this game has pretty substandard graphics, imo. Jaggies are everywhere, not to mention how bad the progressive lighting is. Games look way better during the day. Too bad 80% of my franchise games are at night, which mysteriously start at 7pm and yet the sky is black like it's mid-December.

This is why the equipment seems rubberized and cartoonish. Keep in mind, I'm not talking color here when I say "pop", I'm talking depth of detail.

If they fixed that up, so the gloves, cleats, accessories, helmets, etc., are all more lifelike, things would be much better. The faces should be a no-brainer to fix as well. some are quite good actually, but most are a mess.

From a distance, or in-play, the game doesn't look bad at all. Everything seems proportioned well-enough. The crowd (which looks excellent to me, btw), stadiums (dementionally...details are still an issue here), player models, all look good. It's the detail that's spotty at best.
Textures are a lot easier to replace than the base structures. The structures range from good to great -- the textures need work. It bodes well for the franchise's future.

Oh, I agree. I see no reason to think this can't be built off of. In fact, that's been my general feeling about the game. It's got building block written all over it. Hopefully the PC patch plus all the edits will make the game better for me. If not, no biggie.

I do see the strides VC made, despite what I don't like about the game. The commentary base is there, the graphical base is there, and there are some improvements to the gameplay that give me some hope. The areas that need the most work (IMO) are the pitcher/batter matchup and animations need cleaned up/overhauled big time.

Hopefully it will come together better next year (I really do hate saying that though...lol...it's been a lot of waiting).
