I'm content at least with the changes, things aren't perfect but no game is. It plays a fairly decent game of hardball with the right sliders. Graphically its alright, and it has some great presentation going for it. Its fun to play, at the same time. thats good enough for me

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Official Patch 2 Available, Impressions Here (360 Only)
I agree. It is better, but the AI is still too aggressive most of the time. There are times when it seems realistic, but then there are times when almost every batter comes up and hacks at the first pitch, even when you throw perfect pitches with the Gesture slider turned all the way down.....so the AI agression is better than before the patch, but still not what it should be, and still not as good as it was in previous 2K games. Hopefully they can make it even better in roster updates.Last edited by jeffy777; 04-08-2009, 03:07 AM.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Official Patch 2 Available, Impressions Here (360 Only)
My feelings on the patch have been rather mixed.
I have noticed that they are watching more first pitches go by. That is a plus, but my strikeouts are pretty low. Prepatch, I was averaging around 6 strikeouts a game. I think have only had six strikeouts in five games.
Since the computer remains aggressive in stealing, I have been throwing to second a lot. A couple of times, I overthrew. I have not seen that before the patch. Which is cool.
A couple of pop flies have dropped right next to my player. Sometimes the fielders start moving towards the ball. Other times, they are just standing there. I don't know if that is a glitch or part of the fielder's range and response times.
Batting is about the same, but the amount of homeruns have gone down... which is good.
The game is definitely better, but not enough to keep me from saving up for a ps3. I never thought I would buy that system because I think it is overpriced. Now I need to buy it to play a decent game. I will continue to play the game until I get enough money. After that, I will trade this in for The Show. Don't worry about me. When that happens, I won't troll on the 2k9 boards.

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Official Patch 2 Available, Impressions Here (360 Only)
I personally would LOVE to see them revive that Franchise with a lot of the same people that worked on the last one (if possible) (2004). That was a great baseball game (except for the horrible graphics). Microsoft could combat PS3 sales because of the Show (although it's probably not a ton of sales overall) by making their own great baseball game since 2K hasn't been stepping up to the plate since 360/P3.
Having said all that, I do think this game has a lot of promise for the future. This is the first one that VC has worked on, and the first ones are usually a disaster. They really could refine this game, and make it really good for next year.
Even though I have a PS3 and MLB 09 The Show, I hope they make this series good, because it's kind of like Coke and Pepsi. Even though you really may like Coke (MLB 09 The Show), sometimes you're not in the mood for it, and want Pepsi (MLB 2K9) for a change (or Pepsi may be The Show for some of you and MLB 2K9 is Coke, whatever).
So I take it that it still isn't worth buying post-patch? (Trying to catch up here, haven't been on the MLB 2K9 forum in a while)Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Official Patch 2 Available, Impressions Here (PS3 Only)
Since the patch having a lot of fun.
Had a pitchers duel Jake Peavy vs. Roy Oswalt in Petco. Astros won 2-1.
Next game was completely different. Rangers vs. Indians in Arlington. Sure tell a difference in how the parks played. At Arlington the ball jumped out of the park. Indians win 11-7.
Here's my first highlight.

Same here. For my money the Show is the best sports game I have ever played. That being said, I am having a ton of fun playing 2k9.Comment

MS owns the rights to High Heat Baseball (formerly by 3DO).

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Official Patch 2 Available, Impressions Here (360 Only)
Anyway, I think I will have to pick this up and check it out myself. If I don't like it, I can just sell it or trade it in I guess. Thanks for the impressions.Comment
