Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
Everything is sounding excellent up to this point. Can't wait to finally pop the game in for the first time in a while on Friday...
...and the news about the "snap into stance" animation being removed just may be the best news I've heard in this thread, I was starting to get pretty annoyed...Owner of URWL CAW WRESTLING: http://www.rantboard.net/Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
M-Dogg and Hoosier,
I played an inning pitching as Beckett at home as the Red Sox versus the Mets. I used all 12-6 CB's as pitches:
Here's the results after the first inning:
I walked Jose Reyes, I had a SO to the #2 hitter (caught looking and did not swing), and gave up a single to David Wright (a flyout that died before my outfielder could get to it).
I also noticed that the Mets' hitters weren't chasing the 12-6 CB if it was away and low, but they chased it more often when it was high and inside the zone.Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
I think the initial posts sound promising, but it's still pretty difficult to tell how it REALLY effects the game until the sliders are brought up to speed with the patch adjustments.
And plus it's pretty obvious that the overwhelming majority of the people here play the 360/PC versions so we need a bigger sample size. Because for 13 pages of posts, it's pretty amazing how few of them are actually from people playing the game on the PS3 w/ this patch.Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
Haha yeah that really hurts. It's really a big deal for me for some reason. It was the main reason I stopped playing NCAA 09 last year. Having the game start and end at the same time took away from the overall experience, and, while there is progressive lighting in this game, it needs just a little bit of work.Hates exclusive licenses...

Wow that is a huge addition. Let's hope that there are a lot of unsaid fixes in this patch that we don't know including this one.Hates exclusive licenses...

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
WANT... patch.... NOW for 360!
On a different note. They said they addressed all the HR's? With the slider set i am using, i get very realistic HR's for both me and the CPU. I have gone 4 games without any (me and CPU). And then went into a series with Cleveland. After 4 games, there were a total of 8 HR's hit. Next series, 2 games in with the Twins, there has been only 1 HR hit.
I am getting great games (Ai agressivness aside and silly IF/OF stuff) but overall very satisfying.
I will post my set when i get home.Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
I'd just like to hear actual impressions. I realize not many people are playing this on ps3 but i'd like to know how it represents real baseball at this point. I Spent $450 to pick up the show lol, and it's all it's cracked up to be but at the same time i really liked the control scheme in this game. It just was missing smoething. i'm still within the 30 day return policy and if i can get by witht his game i probably will still.
I havent heard anything about if the cpu fielding miscues were fixed and stuff. Does the cpu still try to tag runners and do stupid things? Is the batting realistic now or did they just make the cpu not swing?Last edited by kGinGreen; 04-02-2009, 06:17 PM.Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
I just played in a online game, i wont 9-2. The guy i was playing wasnt very good and was cursing through his bluetooth the whole time. lol I hit 1 home run that was with Manny Ramirez. Seems to be more hit variety as well. Also, the slow down on balls hit down the line seems to be gone as well.
I am really enjoying it now. I cant wait for the 360 patch so i can get back to playing online and not having to worry about everyone hitting a home run.
*edit* the score of the game, i forgot he scored 2 in the 7th.Last edited by kcxiv; 04-02-2009, 06:36 PM.Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
All in all, with this patch, i'm pretty happy to have chosen this game over the show.
A few more things.
1) The CPU is a lot more realistic now. Although there some instances where the cpu are too aggressive, for the most part, they play like they would in real life. If you throw too many pitches in the strike zone, they will start hacking, but if you keep throwing pitches out the zone, they will take pitches.
2)Like someone said earlier for the most part, the pitching is not the same. You can't just say "I want this pitch at the corner" and accept it to be on the corner.
3)The outfielder catches are fixed, but not fully. For instance, let's say you're near the area where the ball is going to land, you will hesitate to catch the ball, thus causing the ball to drop.
4) Also, while runners are on base, when you pitch, the deliveries will fasten. Although it can to lead to some funky animations, it really allows you to be able to more runners trying to steal.
5)Also,not a big, but now in play now, you can select who you can pitch as( Not sure if this was in pre-patch though).
That's pretty much all that I can think of. And as stated above, the Show defentiately has some major competition now.Comment

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
Ok after one game i can say it does play a better game overall by far all the little things that hinderd the game before seem to not show up, had no 1b glitch, no outfield errors(well no dumb plays that didn't get caught), aggresiveness is toned some but i haven't adjusted sliders post patch, i get them to take a couple more strikes but they do still swing at most pitches in the zone(there is a difference but i don't know if it will be big enough for most people who wanted the big overall change) as for the cpu throwing more balls to me i didn't really see it, may have been the pitcher i faced but he seemed to want to get ahead in early in the count and only saw a 3 ball count on me 1 time all game
for all the people that are wondering about having to start a new franchise no it doesnt seem you have to, as the game i played was from my franchise and i just downloaded the patch, i know the patch took effect because of one of the fix's listed was the pitcher walks off the mound after striking out the 3rd batter to an inning, that was what caught my eye to pay more attention to see if the patch really was taking place in a pre existing franchise
overall i did enjoy the game more as it played a solid game, it is not the end all patch most are hoping for though it just really fixed the little bugs that most people couldn't get past
and also on this i really agree, you will not hit your spot every time all the time now makes for a much more interesting pitching experience, i do like the changeLast edited by JoshCA916; 04-02-2009, 06:53 PM.PSN:LeftCoastGamer

Re: ***Official patch 2 impressions thread (PS3 only)***
Is it as easy to make diving stops in the hole now? One thing that i didnt like so much is there were so many plays that were diving stops if you or the cpu was anywhere near the ball. You could rarely see a cpu or you misplay the ball on a tough play. Too many robbed hits this way.Comment
