Yes, some help would be appreciated.
The practice tutorial only explains the right stick pitching methods. I prefer the buttons. Not sure if you're supposed to press it when the circle is big or small or what you're supposed to to.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

I tried classic last night too and the CPU didn't take a single pitch without swinging. I wish they would've kept the classic meter like it was last year or in 2K7. The classic meter this year is much crappier to use.

I'm trying to use it like it was in 2K8/2K7: hold the button till the circle gets as big as it can, then let off and press it again when right before it disappears. Doesn't seem to be working well at all though since the CPU is swinging at absolutely everything in the zone as if it's a weak pitch.

I actually really like classic this year, that cricle is very challenging, more so I think then the stick control.

To start the pitch, hold down the face button for whatever pitch,,,let go when the circle gets to where you think its biggest and starts rumble, circle starts closing, then hit the face button again when the circle is at it's smallest.

It's tough, but a key tip is on the last button push, you end up pushing it alot later then you think you should. There is no noise, or click like last year to let you know you got it perfect.

My advice also is to just practice, and don't do that final button push, and look at the circle, it gets red when you are too late,,,so it gives you some good insight to judge when you should do that last button push (for location)

Classic is flawed this year, beleive me, this is comming from somone who always has used the classic pitching. They have taken out the fact of pinpoint control bases on when you hit the button for the 2nd time. Now accuracy is random and you will touch the spot you want to throw to but never get it perfect. Try the new pitching, I refused to do it last year but this year it is actually great. Hope this helps

How do you make it challenging? I put the cursor speed at 100 and its not much of a challenge to me...

I think it's more challenging then total control.

I think you can hit spots, it's just really precise, so it's kinda hard. I like it though, or maybe the randomness of it like you suggested. Total Control just is too easy to hit spots.

the wider the circle, the faster the pitch? thanks for the info man...ive finally gotten some sick looking third called strikes against the cpu....

Not sure if this helps others, but it helped me get looking strikes against the CPU.

Let the circle meter fill up. Don't release the corresponding pitch button once the circle meter is near full or full, but let the circle meter expand once its full. The best way I can explain it is that it almost looks like a heartbeat. Release button, let circle collapse, then hit corresponding pitch button just before circle meter dissolves.

Of course I could be doing this all wrong, but its kinda hard to tell what 2k's intentions were when they failed to explain the proper mechanics of classic pitching. Anyway, this technique helped me out a lot.
