    It's a coincidence...and your 360 is the issue.

Yeah...it does suck. I had it happen to me only once, and it took over 3 years for it to happen, but I'm also aware I'm much more fortunate than many have been in that regard.

It's a good system, minus those hardware failures. I read recently that they think they finally got it figured out...lol. Better late than never, I guess.

Sorry for you bud...really am. Hope you're still under warranty.

That is some F'in BS.. Years ago, I bought a refurbished 360 thru Ebay. I owned it for a few months or so, then I resold it, but I remember the damn thing having a red ring once or twice, but it didn't die.. What's the deal with those F'in things dying anyway - like, what is the technical reason for them dying ?

You realize that most of the upscaled and advertised features of The Show are also in 2K9, right?

Oddly enough, I got the RROD a couple of weeks ago when playing the demo of 2k9. Luckily, I had the extended warranty and was able to get a new one from Best Buy. The good thing about it was the price is down to $300 (from $350 last year, when I exchanged my first one), so the extended warranty cost is down to $40, so when the dust cleared, I walked away with $13.
I'm on my third in less than two years. That extended warrantly is well worth it. It kind of pays for itself with the gradual price drops. I figure if this one goes bad in a year, the price will be down to $200-$250, so the funny thing, I keep profiting a little every time this thing dies.
Great system, but I don't know how MS is possibly making any money off it with so many people exchanging for new ones over and over becasue of the design flaw that leads to this hardware issue.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

I was given my 360 for free over a year ago cuz it got the red rings and was out of warranty. I gladly took it and found some dude that fixes them by my house. Paid 40 bucks. He opened it, exchanged some parts and been going strong for over a year now. The dude did a hell of a job.

The newer 360 consoles don't have the issue. I bought my first on launch day and lasted 2 years. Then got an elite and it has given me no issues at all. Also helps to install all games to hdd.

Plus the OP sounds more like a troll then somebody upset with the game

Notice how he has to say. I will just get a ps3 for the show. The best game ever.

IIRC, the reason for the RRoD is overheating.

The HSF on the CPU wasn't properly ventilated due to the design of the console.

EDIT: Well, I was "kinda" right.

                            From here - http://sogamer.wordpress.com/2007/09/01/360rrod/

What Causes The Red Ring of Death?

The rrod happens to an Xbox 360 system when one or more system components permanently fail. A lot of people, especially those not computer savvy, have jumped to conclusions that the reason for the rrod is overheating but that is not the case with the rrod because if it were overheating, letting it cool off would be good enough until it overheated again (not to mention the Xbox 360 has a seperate indication for overheating which would be 2 blinking red lights in the 1 and 3 quadrants rather than three lights in the 1, 2, and 3 quadrants).

The real reason for the 3 red lights of failure is a result of long term heat of the CPU and the GPU against the motherboard that caused it to “bow” or “warp”. This warping issue causes the lead-free solders that were used to mount the motherboard to have lots of tension on them. After it too having long exposure to elevated temperatures, the solders become brittle and develop hair-line cracks that are almost irreparable. It isn’t until the hair-line cracks form that you get the red ring of death. So is the system having heat issues where the parts are failing due to heat? No. The system is actually failing because of irregular behavior in the motherboard that was mounted. If you want to see what we’re talking about with the warping of the motherboard, check out this youtube video.
