you can mod the icon on PC. I messed around with it, but i didnt have any better ideas for it. What would you like it to look like?

Actually, I'd just like it to be more transparent with a neutral color. Reducing the size a bit would be nice, but I don't know what that would do for balance (functionality vs visual).

Not a modder by any means, so that's what I haven't messed with it. I'm currently playing around with the Red sox unis to darken the blue on the Road/Road Alt. why to light.

That's about the extent of my "modding skill" and even that is taxing me...lol.

Been using it. My only wish is for the cursor to be modded (PC). I can't stand it...way too bright and arcadish. The results, however (which are obviously more important) are better with cursor htting than without.

Exactly. That bat cursor kills it for me. Plus it never changes sizes. The cursor is the same size for a 300 hitter as it is for a 200 hitter. The 2k4 cursor would be perfect.

I'm gonna ask a potentially noob question here...I've looked all around (and in the control setup screen like the tutorial says) and I STILL can't find where this option is located. Help?

(PC version BTW, but since SoxFan is claiming to use it I'm obviously just missing it somewhere)

I played with the swing stick for awhile, liked the hit variety, didn't like the challenge. Couldn't strike out and made contact with everything. I did get realistic walk numbers however.
Switched to classic hitting, same deal. Made contact with everything.
Switched over to "zone" hitting and been playing it for weeks and love it. Great hit variety, can hit for power and get realistic strike out numbers. Unfortunately, my walk numbers suffer. I'm too much of a free swinger, most of the time. But I'd rather have realistic strike out numbers vs. walk numbers.
I tell you, there is nothing more satisfying than to hit a hanging curve out of the park with zone hitting. I had a recent game in my Cubs franchise where I was losing 2-0 in the eighth. I hit back to backers with Soriano and Fukudome to take the lead and ultimately win the game.

Hmmm...I guess I am in the minority. I am using cursor (zone) hitting as I find it much more rewarding than just timing my swing. I am having trouble getting my sliders just right with the cursor though. If I could actually check my swing with the swing stick I might be more interested in it. (I know there is a way to do it, but the motion is just not natural if it is like it was in 2K8)

I like cursor hitting the best. I get all type of hits. Kane try using the buttons instead of the swing stick, it is easier to check your swing. I also noticed that when using cursor hitting i find that check swings are not automatic strikes like it was when using non cursor hitting

I enjoy zone/cursor hitting in this game, but in the few games I've played since the patch... I CAN'T HIT A THING! The last few games I've played I've easily been in double figures in strikeouts and have put up little to no offense. In my last game (played yesterday's Bucs/Cards game with accurate lineups), Adam Wainright one-hit me with at least 12 Ks -- I was too disgusted to check the actual number.

I have user contact maxed and power around 75 or 80, but I think what is messing me up are batting success (had it at 40, wrong setting I think) and zone hitting influence (60). I had a few games about two weeks ago before I shelved the game to wait for the patch where I hit the ball too well with zone hitting. I must have had success much higher... Sounds like I need to go check out Padgoi's hitting sliders again to get back on track!

Yeah I am using the buttons. I just re-read my old post and it is a bit jumbled. With the swing stick I have trouble checking my swing. With the buttons I can almost always check my swing. I just wish it were a bit more sensitive like it used to be in MVP. My goal now is just to get some good sliders to play with and some opening day rosters and I will be good to go.

It take's a little hand-eye coordination. You can use the swing stick (which is a lot tougher) or change to classic controls (Button pressing).

It takes a little to get used to, but its def not impossible. Each part of the bat gives you contact with the ball, whether you hit it off of the handle or whether you smoke it with the sweet spot. Just move the bat to where the pitch is, and you'll make contact.

Go into batting practice, it's much easier. What you'll also see is that the hit variety is remarkable -- much more realistic than with default hitting. In fact, it's as good as any video baseball game ever, and much better than The Show's zone hitting as far as realism goes.
