    Progressive Lighting Post Patch?

Hello all and i havent seen a topic as of yet so if there is sorry about the thread. A couple of questions have been brought up if the Progressive lighting has been tweaked in the patch.

Well i played 2 franchise games one at 12:20pm and 1:10pm and i noticed it was not night time at the end of the game just lights and somewhere between dusk and late afternoon. Now i dont know it was fixed for a fact cause i might of played the games quickly. But here is the thing i think it is not true progressive lighting which is you dont see the shadows move during a inning it just changes every half inning or full inning.

So has anyone noticed the change or am i just imagining things?

Well thank goodness that it seems perhaps they've at least addressed that the game ends at late afternoon for those games and not at night.

I've also noticed [in the demo] that it only changes every half inning. I believe they'll save their resources and do what they can for next year's game, meaning there probably won't be a patch for this one.

Does this mean that they shifted the time frame for the daylight transition? I tried a game last night post-patch at night and it still began in the dark. Maybe it was just the case that it was a generic game time start of "night game", but it still concerned me.

In franchise, do the games that start at 7 actually begin at dusk and then transition through the evening? If they don't, then what was the point of putting the light transition into the game in the first place? If what you are saying is true now (that the afternoon games no longer end in darkness), then the only applicable game time for the twighlight transition would be a night game. It doesn't make sense that they would fix the afternoon games and not the night games.

The only theory that I have been wondering about is whether or not the time of daylight changes for the different months. That would be the only way that a good progressive lighting system would represent a night game starting in darkness.

I know its weird... As for the answer to your question 7pm games start end at night. I dont know why that is, but it is. And i dont know why it is and i mean the games at 1:00 should not end even at dusk with lights on i mean seriously it would be like 4 maybe 5 at the most. I mean all i noticed it wasnt pitch black at the end of a early afternoon game.

          Re: Progressive Lighting Post Patch?

Here is the deal with the progressive lighting. If I am not mistaken even pre-patch games that started in the daytime ended at dusk. I just played a post-patch game at Busch that started at day and ended at dusk. However, the progressive lighting is great until about the bottom of the 8th or top of the ninth inning.

I believe I have found these two statements to be true, as I am an avid progressive lighting fan in all sports games and this one is no exception.

          1. The lighting does change every half inning, and I believe this is how it will be for years to come. While I don't know if the shadows actually "creep" across the field in the show, I do know that it would take a lot more shadow work by the 2K team to make them actually "creep" across the field. I believe that this work is unnecessary; as just changing 17 times/game (every half inning) provides just as nice of an effect as it would if it changed 10 or so times an inning.

The shadows would have to slowly change and 2K would have to program each length of shadow if it actually "Crept" across the field. Time would also be a factor if they did this. If it was a 1-2-3 inning, there would be less shadow "creepage" if you will, whereas a big inning would take more time.

You may not realize how hard it would be to program these amounts of shadows. In certain stadiums there may be different objects such as shadows from fences, flags, nets, etc. that would need to be programmed.

          2. My second theory involves times of games in 2K9 as it relates to progressive lighting. I do not believe the time of the game affects how dark it is at the game. I believe it is preset for each game.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I really like what 2K did this year with progressive lighting with the exception of the last inning or so. The shadows over the crowd provides a great effect.

To be perfectly honest, since they didn't fix the 7pm games starting in the dark, I don't care what else they did. At least give me the option to select when the game starts, sheesh.

              I think it works sometimes.
I recently played a game that started at 2:05 or 4:05, and he shadows and sun light going across the field was a thing of beauty. I could of have sworn that even the clouds affected the sun light.

I've seen good progression lighting, before my 360 caught the E74, but I've seen it post patch, even though I only played 1 game before the system got shot.
