    Pitching advice

Anybody have any tips on pitching?
I give up huge home runs a lot, and i think it's my pitch placement/choice.
Where should i put certain pitches, and what pitches do i choose?

Low and away is usually a safe bet. Try to to have sideway motion pitches move in on the hitter. Change-ups low as well.

I would have to disagree with Cyberslydr in one area. In general, you want a breaking pitch to either break down or away from a hitter. Breaking in is a bad thing, especially if it is hung.

In general pitch away, do not pitch strikes all the time, and be patient and work a count as a pitcher. If this is pertaining to online play, especially do not simply throw strikes. Shift the outfield/infield too based on how you're going to pitch (ie fastballs away on a right handed hitter) might call for shifting the outfield to the right, etc.

Set pitches up too. Count is 0-2, waste a couple of high fastballs, outside the strike zone, to setup a low change or breaking ball away from the hitter, etc.

If this is franchise, buy a couple of the Inside Edge reports and follow them. Read them. After awhile you will see the parallels among them and not need them.

FB - ideally low and away or up and in
Offspeed - ideally low and away, never high or hung. ideally you want it to start outside the zone and break in over the black part of the plate or start in the zone and break outside the zone.

Use your FB to set up pitches. You have at least 3 pitches to use before a walk is considered, use it! In addition, do not use the same pitch over and over again.

Wow. My bad. I meant to say have them break away from the hitter.

LOL. Sliders, cutters, 2-seam fastballs and the like.

Your sliders may be the cause of all of the HR's, maybe lower the cpu batting power a little. As stated earlier down and away is always a good option to pitch most hitters. You still have to mix up your pitches and locations as well. I generally try to get the batter into a 1-2 or 2-2 count any way I can and throw a curve down and away in the corner of the strike zone..in that scenario I usually strike the batter out about 60% of the time or better, espically if the batter is weak against the CB.

always set up your pitches. Up and in fastball followed by down and away curve etc.. Don't just throw strikes, and pay attention to your pitchers pitch rating. If he has a 43 slider don't rely on that pitch too much.
