    2k8 vs 2k9

Im looking to buy one of these games but dont know which one. My main area of play is Franchise, and I play most of the games. Realism is quite important as well as stats. Ive heard bad things about the franchise of 2k9 (stamina, injuries, and stats) but I dont know much about 2k8's. Also was wondering if problems like the inability to sub pitchers before innings and weird mound visits were in 2k8. As an ex-baseball player, this seems pretty inexcusable. Please factor in the 2nd patch as well. Any help would be great.

2K9 is not perfect - but it is worlds better than 2K8 in the playing department. I can't speak to Franchise, but to pick up and play 2K9 offers a lot more to me than 2K8.

no, it's not. Presentation-wise, yes, but 2k9 has some pretty BIG problems that I'm extremely dissatisfied with. Personally, having played a LOT of 2k8, I'm regretting having traded it in on this game.

to the OP, I'd give both games a rent. It's possible, with a THIRD patch, that 2k9 may be better, but not at this point. In fact, as it is, I've never hated a baseball game more than 2k9.

I played a full 162 game franchise with 2k8 and am on game 117 of my franchise with 2k9. I have to say that I am having a lot better time with 2k9. The only thing that I don't like about 2k9 is the injury bug. I have had to sim 3 games of my 2k9 franchise to get players off of the DL. Other than that I would say 2k9 is much more enjoyable to me.
