Re: The Other/Anti Little Things Thread

If I go into replay mode because I'm sure that I made absolute perfect contact with a pitch, only to have it go through my bat... then something needs to be done about the contact physics of the game. Fielding, already mentioned.

Secondly, I was at the plate, the pitch comes in and actually plunks me on the elbow. Take my base, right? WRONG. They called a strike, after the ball deflects off of my elbow, into the backstop. The ball literally never made it to the catcher, as it hit my elbow, then deflects towards 3rd base. I didn't even check swing.

Sadly, I think this may be their way of seperating a good contact hitter from a bad one. Instead of giving you a bigger cursor, they just randomly have your player swing through pitches. I haven't done any true testing, but so far it seems the players that swing through balls more often are guys like Pat Burrell or other guys that tend to strike out a lot...if this is the case, this is just bad logic....it would be kind of like making a football game and having the WR's intentionally drop passes because you have a quarterback who sucks and the only way to get his numbers to be bad is to have the WR's drop perfectly catchable passes. The end result may look right in the stat column, but within the game, it's just ugly.

I love the one when you are running to a gap or towards the corner with your back to the infield and your fielder will just reach behind him and make a back handed catch at his ankles without looking...kind reminds me when a tenning player will hit one through his legs.

I've noticed this for a while, but forgot to mention it. Infielders can out run line drives. I hit a laser 10 feet to the right of the first baseman and 20 feet to the left of the second baseman and the second baseman playing his normal position is able to run (right away at full speed) about eight or nine steps and make the catch. This is a ball that a normal second baseman wouldn't even move for because it's a sure hit, but like a cat, he is able to get it.

The same goes for line drives hit up the middle with the SS. They cover so much ground it's unbelievable. A line drive that goes right past the pitcher has no business being caught by a SS unless they have an Ortiz shift going on or a runner is trying to steal second.

On a that line drive that is absolutely crushed an infielder has one, and maybe two steps before a dive for the ball. In this game they can run a good 20 feet in that short amount of time and often make catches on the run that a real fielder could never come withing 10 feet of.

I would like to hit a scorching shot down the line for a single or double once in awhile in this game, but it never happens because the 1st and 3rd basemen make web gem plays every time.

Don't get your hopes up. When you do sneak one past the fielder the ball never makes it to the corner to stretch it to second. The LF almost always cuts it off about half way down the line (at least I've never seen it make it to the corner) and holds you to a single.

I don't have this problem, every game or two I have a corner rattling double. Lower CPU fiedling speed to 55.

On a line drive, yes......but there's no way you could get a smoking ground ball past the infield corners that often though, no matter how hard you hit it. I really hope they fix that next year.....

Apologies if it's been mentioned already...

The lack of ANY rain/rain delays, and as I always use the Jays, the fact that the Dome is never closed (this was an issue last year too).
