Can this game actually be good

I mean with the offering we got this year I don't see how it can. I was one of the ones that was on the bandwagon when I saw the early videos and the game actually looked like it played well, boy was I wrong. No matter what combo of sliders I use the game just doesn't play like a baseball game should IMO. Beyond all of that they have had this game in development since 2k7 since 2k6 was just a port and each year I think they just have made the game less fun and less playable.
For example try to climb the wall in 2k9, it is pretty much impossible the second you hit the black circle your outfielder just slows down. In 2k7 they robbed way too much and in 2k8 you had to battle slowdowns all over the place.

The pitching last year I thought was a great improvement now it is so simplified it almost isn't fun anymore, am doing the right thing when I release, I don't know because there is no way to tell.
The uniforms this year look like pasted on cloth, last year they blew in the wind like a parachute.
I guess I am just frustrated that this subpar game is all I have the opprotunity to play, I really hope that xbox can try to get something out there that will at least live up to next gen because this game is stale year after year.

The game stinks man. It never plays really right. Always something wacky no matter what sliders and I have a good set and things still happen weird. I dont even play the game anymore. I won't be fooled again next year.

The game is good post patch, and actually turning out to be above average.
I think what happened with this game is that folks started messing with sliders as soon as they got the game.

Post patch the bugs dont exist when playing on a default level.
I think some of the sliders, or a combination of slider changes really screws this game up. some sliders might be broken which causes some of the issues folks complain about.

post patch Ive only lowered, errors, and AI pitch success, zone tendency.
the game has played bug free for me for at least 20 games.

Agreed,I used All-Star as a base and changed the hitting sliders to 50-50-80 for human and cpu.I zeroed out the cpu strike zone tendency, and lowered pitch success to 25.The game is glitch free for me.

As a batting cursor-type guy (using a slider set from the other forum specifically tuned for cursor play), not only could this game be good, it should be good.

The number one gamebreaker is the poor defensive play (especially on balls in the air) that I've never seen screwed up before. If this area had hit the minimum standards every other baseball game (outside of WSB 2k1) has managed, I actually would have happily owned it, instead of gladly returning it the other day as my rental period ended.

Then, also get rid of the pinpoint AI pitching (how many millions could a real pitcher earn who could throw so consistently on to just two inches off the black, outside, at the knees?), and this game would be way out of 'We just have to wait until next year'-territory.

It does play ok at some points but you still have nagging areas that have plagued this game since it first took over a next gen console. I just hate how we are handcuffed in a subpar game that is supposed to be a sim. It just doesn't play real baseball, if I wanted to go and play an arcade game I would play the The Bigs but that would be buggy too.

Hey. No need to cast aspersions on The Bigs. That's a great game. It has a near-perfect execution on what it set out to do. (It's so solid that I don't know why Blue Castle, with that code at its base, was never given the MLB 2k assignment.)
