2k9 for 360 on sale at Amazon

    $39.99

Just thought I'd point this out in case any of you were still on the fence like I was. Bit the bullet and ordered this morning. Seems to still be $60 at all the local stores around here, Best Buy, Target, etc.

Looking forward to this game. I was watching a bunch of post-patch videos on youtube last night and it looks like a fantastic game. Haven't seen anything that would bother me in the post-patch videos. In fact, I've only seen great graphics and realistic looking baseball so far. I'm excited.

Nice work...I wish I would have only paid 40 bucks for this game instead of $60 on release day.

And I don't wanna rain on your parade, but some lingering issues still exist post-patch #2. Outfielders still don't react to some routine fly balls, defensive replacements get stuck for some reason and won't move when a ball is hit in their direction, and the Franchise mode is still essentially broken (disabled list glitches, players race/body type changing when a player is sent to the minors and then called back to the majors, stats are messed up, etc.).

I hope you enjoy the game, but just be warned that some things will pop up even post-patch that will make you shake your head and wonder how they made it into the finished product.

What's odd is that there is such a separation of opinion on the glitches. Many people on these boards and others say they have literally zero issues with gameplay post-patch. The franchise mode issues you listed are petty to me and don't influence my enjoyment of the game at all. I usually only have time for a couple games per week, so I'm more of a play a quick game type of guy.

I should add too that I have The Show for PSP and it's a great game considering it's a hand-held, but I need some baseball on my big TV.

I agree...it's odd how some people don't experience the glitches, but others (like myself) do.

If Franchise isn't your cup of tea, you should enjoy the game just fine. I am a Franchise guy and am quite disappointed in this year's offering.

But for $40 and for your big TV baseball fix, you couldn't go wrong.

I do like franchise, but as I get busier and busier these days I find I just don't have the time to immerse myself in it and enjoy it like I used to. It works well for Madden since there are only 16 games in a season, but for all the other sports it's too tough to get into and doesn't feel right when you shorten a baseball season to 14 games or whatever. Plus with all the contract negotiations and drafting and offseason tasks, I don't have the time to do it right (meaning not rush thru it just to start the next season).

As I write this I really miss having the free time to get into a franchise like I used to!

The only thing that might bother you about the play now mode is that u can't edit the cpu lineup or pitcher unless you have a second controller. Its a pretty decent game all things considered.

As long as you go into it with some glitch expectations the game is good. I was defending this game all the time and then the game froze 20 games deep into my franchise and I had to restart. Since then I have the patch the gameplay is better but, I have lost all my steam on my season only playing 3 games in the last 10 days.
              Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

Sorry to hear about your franchise dude, that sucks. The not being able to change the CPU lineup in quick play will bug me. I do have two controllers, but is that honestly the only way to do it? That's kind of a big oversight and is a little surprising to me. I definitely don't want to have to pitch against Santana everytime I play against the Mets for example.

Once again, uninformed people give this game a bad reputation. You can change the CPU lineup by going to the roster screen BEFORE entering PLAY NOW. You can even save this edited roster so you don't have to do it everytime.

That's true, but if you want to keep that roster for later, make sure to save MULTIPLE files. The Living Rosters feature will overwrite your roster file if you accept the updates, eliminating any changes you made to the roster. Therefore, if you only have one roster file and make changes to it, the Living Roster update will overwrite anything you did to it.
