Few questions before purchase!

I'm literally sick to death of MLB 09 The Show(Or more accurately sick of them not being bothered enough to fix their crappy player ratings/potential ratings just because Knight does their job for them) and want to start a Franchise in a baseball game so I've got a few questions before I get MLB 2K9.

Has the PS3 version had the same amount of patches/fixes made availible to make it play as well as the 360 version?

Have the younger players got photos for their player model?
(I'm talking more about players like: Travis Snider, Chris Davis, Taylor Teagarden etc etc...I'm not expecting Matt Laporta etc to have a photo)

Is it worth buying in general?

2K baseball is not the game you want to play if you're planning starting a franchise. Way too many stat and freeze issues. 2K9 is more or less acceptable for online gaming. Other than that, it's a mess.

I love this game to be honest but I play on the 360 so idk about PS3. Umm.. Snider and Davis have photos but I'm not sure about Teagarden and Laporta. For some reason, i thought LaPorta had a pic and I haven't even seen Teagarden.

My last franchise locked up after I won the World Series so I can no longer continue it but that is the only 1 that I've had that problem with and overall, I really enjoy the franchise mode.

The only thing that kind of stinks is the injury bug.

Back to the OP, yes the PS3 version has 2 patches also.

I've just checked how much it would cost me to get 2K9 in England from Amazon and it'll cost $93.12.

DENIED!!!

I already wasted that much buying The Show this year which was a complete waste of money.

Unfortunately, the freezing problems have nothing to do with his opinion.

I used to think that the franchise freeze was a myth and only affected a few people. Then, I reached the offeason between my 2nd and 3rd seasons. After selecting "Advance to next season", BAM! Freeze! I have tried no less than 5 times to advance, all with the same result.

The 14 or so pages of comments on the "Franchise Freeze" thread at 2Ksports.com's forums for this game don't lie either.

I agree, this game is a lot of fun, the only debbie downer is the injury bug, but other than that, I am enjoying this game more than I thought I would after all the intial hate.

I love and hate this game. I was 20 games into a season ( I only get about 3-4 games in a week) and then boom freezes thats 5-6 weeks of playing time wasted. I restart and 5 games in it freezes again. I don't know if I will keep playing.

Again people it is pretty simple, save your franchise on two different save files!
I am 45 games in my season and the game has froze twice on me, I simply turn off my 360 and load the second save file and the game has loaded both times.
It may take 2-5 extra seconds each time you save your season but it is well worth it.

Again people it is pretty simple, save your franchise on two different save files!

Trust me, I know. That's what I was doing.

I used 2 save files to prevent this from happening. After the first one froze, I loaded the second. Then, at the exact same spot (trying to advance to the next season), the game froze again. ON BOTH SAVE FILES. AT THE SAME SPOT.

If you have a PS3 and have already played MLB 09, then you most likely will not like MLB 2K9.

I used auto-save and would save the Franchise using the "main" file save. The second one was a back up that I would save after the main one got done auto-saving. So yes, most of the time I saved both files at the same time. But this case was different, since I hadn't used the back-up file in a while.

As I advanced through the offseason using my "main" save, the Franchise would auto-save here an there during the last months of the season & offseason. The last time it saved was after I finalized my roster before I chose to advance to the next season.

When that froze, I loaded the back-up, which was last saved in July of my Franchise. I simmed the rest of the season, re-signed players, did the draft and free agency, finalized rosters and then tried to advance to the next season. The same freezing result happened.
